Darrell, Swampy and Andy have found yet more cheese this time for Necrons, but can you kill them quick enough to keep this tactic at bay?
P.S. IF your wondering about the new gaming boards the guys are sitting behing came from they all come from the SSWG Gaming Group.

I dont see whats cheese about this, just blast those Ghostarks away and deal with those warriors after that. That blob still needs to get within 24″ anywaysto be even able to take a shot.
Why would you not just blow up the arks? Extra D6 and pick the highest for armour pen for ordance large blast from a battle cannon if they are in a nice blob simple, or vanquisher cannon’s even better for blowing up vehicles.
Can’t you just take out the Ghost Arks on their way across the field? Ya they have 4 hull points and living metal but they are only AV 11 and open topped skimmers. You just need to immobilise them early on. Tho its a good way to draw fire from the rest of your army.
while a interesting tactic to keep your Destroyer Lords alive, but please review pg 90 of the codex about the courts.
hate to burst your bubble but the destroyer lords are not fearless, also what lictormu said
I can’t see this unit being able to do anything, it’s slow moving it’s not exactly shooty and it has to have a very expensive transport running behind it… tell me how you mulch up all the faster moving trash units nids can send at u, or those massive guard blobs or orks . Yea this unit would proly murder termimators that sounds like what it’s intended to do but would a person realy send their termies into a bunch of mindshakle lords and cryptecs? A thing like this would have to be able to murder an entire army to… Read more »
yeah Destroyer lords are not fearless so you will be losing combat and running at some point.
as for ghost arks, i still think they are one of the better transports in the game. AV13 until a pen is very nice and they are open topped so all 10 warrior inside can shoot out of it or assault if thats what you want to do.
Yes, but rear armour 11. Lots of hull poitns though so with my daemons hit them on the, err, bottom and clobber the troops. Even my poor plaguebearers are going before Necrons and with a 4+ save the Pink Horrors warpfire will stand a chance.
It’s a nice idea, but it’s around 500 points of units with a range of 24″.
why don’t you just blow up the ghost arks? A bunch of railguns get the job done.
THIS WIL NEVER EVER WORK!!!!
1) destroyer lords aren’t fearless!!!
2) if you have 2 destroyer lords you CAN’T have a royal court
3) which of your opponents will ever play you again if you play like this?
btw didn’t you 3 look at the codex when making this? so how could you not have seen point 1&2?
As an imperial guard player – 3 medusae firing S10 large blasts per turn. Possibly taking bastion breacher shells, or, failing that a couple of Manticores.
With the Arks nobbled the warriors can be knocked out. If the destroyers want to move forward to assault they have to detach from the unit and lose the Ghost Ark powers.
Salami tactics! Just destroy the support units first!
While the tactic may not work as a deathstar unit (as other have mentioned), I still think its a nice bit of cheese. I mean its still a way to get 1-2 Lord/Crypteks back. Maybe even a independent character.
You could always just use it in a smaller way. join a lord with sepiternal, phaseshifter and an orb and stick him in front to absob incoming fire. if he dies and doesn’t get his reanimation you still have the ghost ark. It might not kill armes but I can imagine it beeing a pain to dislodge from an objectiv.
Yep, this seems to be allowed by the rules since independent characters count as being part of the unit they have joined according to the brick. Just had to double check this since I had remembered they were treated as a separate unit.
Personally I don’t see this tactic being too cheesy. It’s good, but as said before, it can be dealt with big guns. ^^
Oh yeah and they run away too it seems. No cheese there then!
hope to see some warhammer fantasy cheese to in the future
Don’t worry there is Some form of Fantasy based Cheese on the way (did have three bitz but one was FAQ’ed out at the last round and the other 2 are wait and see’s as to what the new Warriors book does to them)
Looks like Swampy failed in his cheese hunt this time.
I will endevour to up my game good sir
Totally!
But seriously, I think Matt Ward could have been more specific and said Necron Warriors rather than models. I was never aware of this tactic. I thought models meant Warriors!
Stick Imotekh and a Harbinger of Eternity with Chronometron in (Imotekh at the front to take hits, Look Out Sir S10 Wounds, move when reduced to 2 Wounds (as if!)) and say: You can’t kill me!
You could also do Anrakyr- if you shoot the Ghost Ark, it’ll be like, “Give me that tank, please’ and if you shoot Anrakyr, he gets up. Either way put a Eternity Tek in to may the Lord you chose rdiculous to kill (unless they just kill the Ark first, then the unit).
Swampy, Darrel and Andy, did you consider that the Ghost Ark could be shot? or did you assume people would focus on the unit? And Destroyer Lords don’t get courts, and aren’t Fearless.
If you’re looking for cheese, here’s one:
One of my friends plays Tau with Necron allies. He uses that Necron guy that makes it nightfighting untill his luck runs out and uses as many shrouded units as he can when giving everybody a blacksun filter…
Nasty. Really nasty. When every unit on his side gets a big cover save (more than often 2+), he gets to fire with no penalty. At the start of each turn, lightening falls from the sky on your units… Did I just say nasty!?
That’s the kind of cheese you guys should be hunting for…
Does he give Imotekh a Cryptek with Chronometron to keep the Night for longer and a Cryptek with Solar Pulse to get Night for one turn after Lord of the Storm runs out? That would be even better!
I don’t remember, sorry… I’m not an Necron expert.
Without wanting to sound like a smartass,
Does anybody else read the comments on a Beasts of War video before they actually watch the video?
I find this is fast becoming a necessity.
Deathwing Knights’ Smite attacks then plasma storm battery shooting from a Vengeance and it good by Ghost Arks, Good by Lords, good luck anyone left standing
If you want chees that you’re actually allowed to play, use Anrakyr to give a unit of Immortals Furious Charge/ Couter attack. Then you just take Illuminator Szeras as your second HQ to give them plus 1 toughness. Add in a lord with an Orb and they won’t die…ever.
Does the Jan. FAQ update clarify this? It says under Repair Barge that D3 models are added to the unit. That would not heal a character model.
Except if Szeras doesn’t roll right. I believe Mechanical Augmentaion should be a choice.
That FAQ does not say Necron Warrior models, which is where BoW are getting their idea from.
Have to say I’m a bit over the weekly bullsh ….. errr I mean cheese.
So glad I don’t play against guys of this ilk.
