Cheese Hunters: Evo Repeaters & Hacking Plus Devices

Time for a little cheese from the World of Infinity, as Swampy rolls out one of his variations on a well established Nomads tactic. Is it cheese or simply par for the course when your playing the faction?
I am quite pleased to see Swampy take on Infinity, I like the basic idea presented, Especially the crucial marker move, but I have to point out that Hacking Device + Marking is still a normal marking and does not benefit from Hacking support, but also cannot be countered by anti hacking protocols.
So orders saved from a really order intense combo!
Swampy fantastic idea on the Vertigo Zond conversion.
As Psychoticstorm pointed out, as a marker roll the EVO repeaters cannot lend hacking support. Additionally, according to the wiki page, you cannot combine 2 or more hacking support options from evo repeaters. http://infinitythegame.wikispot.org/EVO_Repeater, specifically, “The EVO Support Programmes are not combinable “.
Not sure this qualifies as cheese in any case which while effective,is just one of many options in Infinity. It comes at a cost, and can be countered in various ways.
Well there is no cheese in Infinity i my opinion, by the standard definition of “Cheese” but, tactics and long combos that can throw an opponent off guard if they have not encountered them before is close enough.
The Dirty Nomads Combo is one good example, it is order intense, needs lots of synergy to work and can be easily broken, but if one is unprepared for it, gets by surprise, gets shocked and does not think clear about counter it, it can be a game winner.
Hello, there. Well… I’ve been watching the video and there a few of tiny details wrong, but it is mostly right. First of all… The way the Reverend Custodier shot the Repeater, That should be a “Speculative fire” shot as the “Marker” rule says. So the BS will have a negative modifier of -6, and dispersion rules should be applied if there is a failed roll. Then, when he is actually marking the objective, he is applying “Hacker support” rules to the interventor roll to have a +6 for his WIP roll, but that is not correct. Since he is… Read more »
The thing Swampy discribed is actualy just teh basic Dirty Nomad Trick. What he initialy refered to as DNT, having a guided missile launcher in there and marking targets with forward observer, can be done by anyone. But only Nomads with their ridicilous access to deployable repeaters, sneaky hackers, hacking devices plus etc. can use the forward observer funcion of hacking device plus efectively.
Yeah, no one is shocked by this. Want to surprise your opponent run a link team of 3 custodeers with B2 flash.
I have a friend who plays nomads and usually if he goes for the ‘dirty nomad trick’ he will spend his whole turn getting this one combo off. It can be usefull but my Ariadna (with lots of camouflage) or my Tohaa (with nullifiers) don’t really fear it.
I personally consider using more then one hassasin fidays cheese. I also don’t like the ‘throwing down smoke and shooting through it with multispectral visor level 2’ combo.
And one more thing: Can you use more than one hacker support if you have multiple EVO repeaters? The EVO rule only says that, if there is an EVO repeater deployed on the field hackers can choose one Support Program.
And this is off the oficial Infinity Wiki on EVo repeaters:
“The Hacker must announce, immediately after declaring his Hacking Order, which of the four EVO Support Programmes he is going to use. The EVO Support Programmes are not combinable, not even in Coordinated Order. These Support Programmes cannot be used in ARO.”
How did they hoot deployable repeater????
It can not be shooted like a bullet, you have to lay it on the ground!

I have to say gentlemen as much as I appreciate the work you do here especially regarding Infinity reviews and what not this particular video is not your best work and should be removed and reworked. As already mentioned the way you have outlined this tactic as working is incorrect and doesn’t do the game justice at all. Infinity isn’t a cheesy game their is no true power creep, death stars or game winning/breaking combos. The Nomad forward observing w/ hacking device plus is an order intensive process that can be easily stopped by fielding a defensive hacker and evo… Read more »
The only cheese in the tactic you outlined is the insane amount of cheating you are teaching people. Please delete this video since you got an extremely large number of rules wrong. This is already a sensitive subject that confuses many players, the last thing we need is for people to be referring to this video and use it as justification that this is the correct way to play. 1 – (You got this one correct but people in comments are getting it wrong) You can fire the Marker normally or as a Speculative shot, its only considered Speculative if… Read more »
For new players who are reading viewing this video and becoming disinterested or disillusioned by Infinity because of the tactics, let me explain somethings 1 – This requires extremely specific list building where you spend dozens and dozens of points of many lackluster units just to be able to do this at all 2 – This requires an extremely large amount of orders each turn, to the point that they will probably only be able to kill 1 or 2 models per turn 3 – It has counters, with defensive hackers you can shoot the missiles down before it hits… Read more »
