Check out next Month’s White Dwarf
July 24, 2012 by beerogre
Here's 9K Painting from YouTube taking a look at next months White Dwarf.
I have visions of a GW-style "Bat Signal" going up to summon the legal team!

So its true that Demons of Chaos are getting update to WHFB.
And to 40k, chariots are now legal there too. I really want to make a Chaos Daemons + Marines Slaanesh army… but it need some Phallic warriors to be a little more Slaanesh representative and give them more armor penetration 😉
Not sure about a bat signal, but can see Tom Kirby’s throne sliding forward as he drops someone else into the pit with the GW legal team 😛
Damn them I am going to have to buy White Dwarf again after last months abomination
From the spoilers it can assumed that the new starter set for 40k will be next.
I really hope that is the case, because I need the pocket rule book and it would be an interesting sight to see the new minis for the starter set.
Just FYI, if you can’t wait, or if you liked the minis from Assault on Black Reach better… the AoBR boxed set ALREADY has the new 6th ed. pocket rulebook. I’ve seen it with my very own eyes at my FLGS.
@vondrasky the good old phallic marines, reminds me of a friends slaneeshi predator it was so disturbingly phallic we couldn’t allow it in the shop. Not sure I have a photo…..in fact scratch that I am not posting that on the interwebz

The nice chap has update it in English, good video….
Oh I would definately say starter box now as its dark angels and chaos in the pic….
I don’t want it in English unless it still includes “bom” and “poot” 😛
boom boom boom
boom boom boom
as Tony Robinson once said, not exactly bom
I’m happy to see the screamers and flamers kept their original looks through into plastic. Well, I guess there are some minor improvements, such as the eyes on the Screamers, both units keep their lovecraftian feel though. It’s just a shame the plastic horrors didn’t keep the same look as the previous metal ones when they got released a year or so ago.
Well if they will take the WD off the shelves at Smith’s for people to flip through they are doing everyone a fine service and it is free advertising. (cf @dags)
When I said cf @dags I meant where he said about buying this issue and not his Basil Brush impersonation!
Just to be clear lol
🙂 I have generally not brough WD for the last 2-3 years because everytime I do out of curiosity or read a mates copy its poor quality, lacking in content and entirely unjustiably priced. Now it it was a hobby magazine with interesting articles, insightful new and discussion of the meta game etc I would happily pay it cover cost. I had noticed its not in Smiths but I figured that was a result of legal action that started a while back because it was hitting their shelves before it hit GWs. Oh and for reference with was Baldrick’s poem… Read more »
Basil was still on the box when last I had one. But not as good as it was in our day! lol
IIRC GW pulled out from Smith’s well before the issue (pardon pun) of it being sold in their stores first, which caused annoyance to the subscribers because they got their copies later than everyone else.
I seem to remember it being to do with position on the shelves and having to pay for eye level display.
Ah did wonder, but given latest direction couldn’t just sit with the rest of the kids magazines like it does in my local new agent.
Still nice to see an update . . . . now if I don’t buy it how long til rules pop up on the website. I left the flyers as it will be ages before I get and paint one and if when I come to pick one up I shall raise it as an issue before buying. Logical thing would be to put rules in with the new models.
seeker chariots of slanesh 11 front and side and 10 rear
this is no real issue nothing a lascannon can’t deal with
just got to shoot it with my landraider/Predator two shot and boom
That’s some dodgy armour stats for a chariot.
WOW! check out that new Monstrous Creature for WHFB… sorry I meant recycled 40K monstrous creature. Those legs are so close together just to fit the base it should get a bonus for walking sideways like a crab. I dub thee – SOULCRAB! 🙂
You know you have problems when your soul has crabs! O_O
Somehow fitting for a slannesh and nurgle heavy release 😛
I take it if it has “crabs” it must be a Slannesh Soulgrinder.
I have no desire to collect either army of new starter. However would have to submit that you got some nice eye candy paintwise there.
I will get it just for the small rule book, build and paint the rest then ship the finished models to ebay to try and get my funds back.
Was that classic Teclis finecasted in the English version of the vid?
Another how to fix finecast article wtf? Haven’t the sorted out Finecast by now ESPECIALLY since they hiked their prices up.
Plastic plaguebearers look sweet as fock. ‘Eavy Metal team’s painting looks beautiful as always.
Slaanesh Chariot for Warhammer 40,000? Sticks out like a sore thumb.
Soulgrinder for Warhammer? wtf? Just doesn’t work. GW should have maintained the Doom copys for 40K, makes far more sense, they should actually have expanded the Doom theme, if they really want to justify a Demon army separate from the Chaos Marines. For Warhammer fantasy the Soulgrinder just don’t gel. Sticks out like a sore thumb.
Yeah I agree with you on the Doom theme, the soulgrinder was a nice start – but I really wanted to see the return of chaos androids and other “cyber demon” stuff, would of seperated it nicely from the fantasy counterparts (which is where the chariots and such fit better imo). That said, I kinda want to do a chaos android army now…. spikey judge dredd abc robots maybe?
@abstractalien wow chaos androids – still got some somewhere. Could do it with a necron and allied deamon list maybe?
I actually disagree I think Soulgrinders in fantasy definately fit the Realm of Chaos era warhammer.
@poosh I would guess they will do them until they fix finecast or go all plastic- I have my opinion on what will happen first.
They will not go all plastic because you cannot achieve the high quality of detail and shapes that you can get with metal/resin that you can get with plastic.
Historically I would say you are completely correct, going forward given recent releases I would not be suprised to see 100% plastic, possibly 5 years out.
It has strong business reasons in terms of wastage and quality control issues.
Slannesh Chariots – interesting designs, wonder if that’s three kits or two, didn’t seem particularly clear. Screamers – so glad they look the same as the current ones, was afraid GW were gonna “revamp” them to look like traditional discs of Tzeentch like some rumours had said. Flamers – eh. sort of a half-way house between the current ones and the originals. Much prefer the “fluid” nature of the outgoing ones. Plaguebearers – kinda… meh? but then plaguebearer models have never been that great, I think the paint scheme makes them look washed out instead of fetid/festering. Nurglings – same… Read more »
Anyone know how these fit with the current chariots in the codex? They look like new unit names so is it in addition to rather than a replacement? Dabbled with Chaos Daemon’s at 500 when I started getting into 40k again and the Hearld of Slannesh with Chariot was a great HQ choice with 6 I7 rending attacks and the greater movement for a mere 75 points (buffing the strength to 4, with the number of attacks you’d be near guaranteed to hit a 6 to hit a transport S11-13 on the rear) it’s now all the better with the… Read more »
@yarr the chariots well hellflayer and exalted are new units in the update booklet, which covers both systems, released with the white dwarf. I am not sure of the exact details probably worth looking at the issue or probing local gw after the white dwarf hits
@yarr, heralds can take a mount, or a seeker chariot or an exalted chariot as options. All reasonably priced.
Hmmm chariots? Where is Fine cast Vulkan He’stan? Possibly unearthing hidden relics in the depths of Nocturne’s vaults.
gw scraped the vid
The legal team have tasted blood, best step carefully 😛
Holy crap! Man if GW spent as much money on game designers as they do lawyers we might not have to wait 4 years for all the books to be updated.
I can understand when they protect their IP, with infringement on fluff or indeed on designs (sometimes contraversal given how derivitive a lot of the concepts are). It is such a massive part of their business and they have a right to defend it.
However, in this case I it was free promotion, yes it breaks there desired boundary of information release but they had broken that themselves through poor control of their WD release.
The issue with the design team is not so much one of budjet by design approach, philosophy and indeed business direction.
