The Boyz Show How to Take Down a Nightbringer
August 12, 2010 by lloyd
Darrell and John take down a Nightbringer using some Ork Boyz with a sneaky move. I must admit I it never would have thought of doing this (silly me).

did everyone take out a temporary restraining order against Darrell?
i think you need a better looking host. ^-^
That’s yes on the assistant 😉 just don’t get rid of John
Good to see you guys are doing a dual show now and again.
John has curves where it counts 😉
That is a very useful thing to know, is that.
And I wanna work at BoW! If you could really call it work, that is.
That’s it, I am never playing against Darrell EVER! 😉
isnt this only if the nightbringer joint the scarebs ? and they are one squad ? becouls i cant find this in the rulebook, if its in there can someone quote of give me a page nr. ?
BRB, pg 44, “NO RETREAT”.
There is a distinction in the Assault rules between a “unit” and a “side”, where unit refers to a specific entry in your army list, including other units that have joined it, including Independent Characters, and side seems to refer to the whole army and any forces allied with them.
The Nightbringer, being Fearless, and being on the “side” that loses, takes wounds equal to the difference in wounds caused during the combat, regardless of whether he was part of the same “unit”.
wow i must heave read over it or sometink
tnx a lot ^^
4:19 Darrell farted.
He’s always doing that! 😉

Tervigons a he?
😕
rofl I didnt notice that when I first watched that video lmao!
hahah whaaaaaaaaat, omg and it looked like they had a hard time keeping it together too
Would it be against the rules to convert a nightbringer so it’s stood on the ground, rather than flying?
Just to make it harder to hit.
Harder to hit?
Also you can model it how you want, end of the day it’s still going to be obvious to your opponent that it’s a nightbringer
I mean… the Nightbringer model is pretty tall, and with true LoS, an easy target, but he’s also hovering above the ground.
What i wanna do is make it so it’s standing on the ground, so it’s a harder target for snipers an’ stuff.
Tbh id be happy to see the ork boys presenting a show if u could animate them xD
I IZ UNBOKSING DESE STRIKIN’ SKORPI’UNS.
DEY IZ WELL ORKY, ESPESHULLY DA EKSARCH COZ ‘E’Z GOT SUMFING CHOPPY IN BOFE HANDZ AND DAKKA COMING AHT OV ‘IZ FACE!!! WAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH you´re doin´ it wrong…
1. Nice point again BoW, many beginners make these mistake. This is especially a big problem for Tyranids, who have the weakest troops of all armies AND some very tough MCs. NEVER EVER ATTACK the same unit with your Carnifex and your small bugs, the enemy will have a very easy game taking your Carnifex/Trygon/etc out. 2. Darrell, you should have mentioned/explained (maybe in an upcoming vid) how to actually initiate multiple combats. Many people do it like you did in this vid and this is technically WRONG. Each moved modell must end it’s assault move within 2″ of an… Read more »
Can I get a rules quote for point 2? I know they have to stay in coherency with their own unit, but not seen anything about within 2″ of a model that’s already moved
@bigbri:
Sure. I just don’t know the page, but it’s one of the bullet points in the “Moving into Assaults” part which is the second part of the assault phase rules. There it’s described stepwise how to move a charging unit into close combat.
Ah thanks completely ever noticed that >< Trying to read rules at 1am = bad idea lol
i ALWAYS abuse this with fearless units
You forget that the night bringer can blow you away with etheric tempest. this way the necron player will get the charge and a smart necron player will hopefully only charge in the nightbringer.
this wouldnt work on boyz tho because i believe they are strength 4
According to the summary chart at the back of the BRB boyz are strength 3 basic with +1 for furious charge, and etheric tempest uses unmodified strength
if the nightbringer is ever facing a horde army like this however he should probably opt for his big blast template close combat attack. would probably kill a lot more boyz this way and would help on the combat resolution
A good way to take out a nightbringer is a unit of sturnguard vets with hellfire rounds, wounding on 2+. Forcing alot of those 50/50 saves. And the blast template in my opinion should not be used since your rolling to woulnd on 4+, your relying on luck, I’d rather go with the averages.
John just rolled on through the fart and the D’man snickered.
I generally think that using big units of boyz helps in a lot of situations. Ork boyz are cheap for what they do and you can have plenty of them. If you manage to get 20 boys and charge the Nightbringer they might be able to release enough hurt for him to fail enough saves and just die. You don’t have to count on your oponent’s being daft enough to charge the Scarab Swarm into you. Rule number one in building a Waaagh: Boyz before toyz. Solution to any problem…. even more boyz!
how would you take down a deciever then becuase when i tried with my templar rapid assault army my land raider crusader full of assault terminators with lightning claws with commander helbrecht and the named chaplain character. all that happened was i charged and he left combat as soon as possible and after that he just went named character killing >.< tips would be good especially with the new nids because thts the army i collect now
Your only chance is hit it with shooting, alot. The deciever is never gonna fight a combat if it has any chance of dying, it’ll keep slipping away.
well actually if you have plenty of boyz charging a nightbringer then you wouldn’t have to worry about combat resolution because even if they lose 3 or 4 or more and don;t do any thing back as long as they have 10 or more they are fearless as well
Well actually like in the vid says, If u loose combat and ur fearless u must take Extra saves on ur models and with the orks utterly rubbish save it might not be worth losing almost double to ur average of 3 or 4 lossess… although the bringer does get 6 att’s when running into combat. I Think.
Correct me if I’m wrong guys but, I don’t think the Nightbringer would lose some wounds on this one. On page 44 of the Rulebook it states under the NO RETREAT! rule that: “If none of the enemies involved in the combat against a fearless unit can actually hurt it, the unit does not suffer any wounds if it’s side is defeated in combat, and simply continues to fight.” So, as the Nightbringer is Toughness 8, and the boys are normally Strenght 3, they cannot even touch him. And even if they had strenght 4, NB would still get his… Read more »
