Boromites Head Beyond The Gates Of Antares
January 20, 2014 by brennon
It might have been a bit quiet on the Gates of Antares front but the project still has life and Warlord Games showed off some of the models that will be coming in the first wave. See what you think of these Boromites...
These Boromites are a people bio-engineered to work in extreme conditions. They are formed into Guilds that do plenty of mining and excavating across various worlds but they can also turn their hand to war, adapting their equipment when a conflict arises.
It's been a while since we've seen anything on this game but I'm glad that it has a future and some of the models have been finalised. Warlord Games have also promised more updates for the future.
What do you think of the Boromites?

These are nice, though I am not overwhelmed by them at all. Nice and steady, no frills mini’s seems to be Warlords design mandate. I really like the concept of ‘Antares’ but was hoping for more exciting and dynamic miniatures.
I think these a very nice. We have endless guys in space armour one kind or another. These are a bit different.
A shame the Kickstarter never came to anything…
Yeaaaaah. While there is nothing wrong with these on a technical level (IMHO) I certainly wouldn’t have ‘opened’ with these. Creatures made from rock usually look pretty good when they are troll sized or larger because the sculptor can really go to town on the detail, giving the model a suitably formidable appearance and pose. But at the infantry level, without some humans using similar gear for reference, they look a little out of place.
Also, why would a person covered in a rock-like growth wear knee pads? 😀
Actually, since I can’t really see any straps on the back of the legs, maybe they are stuck there and the poor Boromites can’t take them off.
Underwhelming!!!!!!!
These remind me of the guy from the Fantastic Four – the rocky, lumpy guy.
They are ok and I know the ideas behind the fluff.
They look OK. The first thing I thought though was that drill looks bloomin’ daft! 😀
these look like old gw sculpts, but not in a good way. compared to the hansa miniature they are pretty crap.i thought so at the time of the kickstarter and i think so now.
Not a fan of the drill, but I quite like the models.
As you say though, human sized “rocky” models aren’t exactly a winnign formula.
The guns look quite good, and I’ll be interested to see the “real” faction models.
I don’t think they look good at all.
