Awesome Algoryn For Beyond The Gates Of Antares
January 30, 2014 by brennon
Warlord Games have another update for Beyond The Gates of Antares and this time around they are looking at a rather more epic sounding race than last time. See what you think of the Algoryn...
They do remind me somewhat of a Doctor Who villain when you look at the heads above, but when you see them in that armour it's a whole different ball game.
The Boromites had felt a little bit old school, as if they had been dredged up from the Sci-Fi past, but these are looking very nice indeed. I approve wholeheartedly of the armour and the weapons and if they can get that level of expression on their faces in the final models then I will be picking some up.
What do you think?

Excellent love the snare on the 2nd head
Its a few decades leap forward from the Boromites they showed earlier, they need to tide up a lot from background and aesthetics in my opinion, but these are a step in a very good direction.
These are more like it and look very cool indeed. Better than them bloody Boromites!
Nice, but Infinity does that powerarmour so much better that it hurts. Still not too shabby and with the right price something that is likely to find its fans.
That is true, Infinity does better, but that’s not a reason for them to not try, its a nice attempt, personally as a sci fi fanatic and of course a really big Corvus Belli fanboy, I love see others do sci fi especially not post apocalyptic sci fi, its about time sci fi broadens and contests fantasy’s establishment. As an attempt they are nice sculpts, got a decent background, I just hope they realize the post apocalyptic parts of their general background need to be left out and Boromites get reworked in a more modern era concept, because as they… Read more »
this will be bought on sight : )
I have been all in from the beginning of BTGA…. So now I am just waiting for rules and minis to come out!!!!
Nice minis.
I do hope X-Sling is not some sort of underwear… sounds very uncomfortable.
Interesting…let’s see how the final product comes out though. I’m a bit hesitant to trust renders these days. Seen too many awesome renders turn into mediocre models.
And yes, the Boromites need to be redone.
I’d like to see a little more alien aliens, given that they are not limited by the requirement to fit human actors into the rubber suits…
Strictly speaking, from a lore perspective, neither the Algoryn or the Boromites are aliens at all – they are Panhuman subspecies of humanity itself, gentically engineered from the human baseline several millennia before the fictional game continuity.
On that basis, a humanoid body type is reasonable for these factions, though I agree with you as a general point that sci fi needs more aliens that appear actually alien, rather than suffering from the infamous ‘Star Trek syndrome’ of exclusively human body types only differentiated by slight brow and facial changes.
