Seems risky just sitting there waiting to be popped apart.
Has anyone used this tactic and had success?
This is known as rhino rush. I have seen Bloodangels use this tactic to good effect
I use it with great effect I play space wolf´s. if the opponent destroys the rhino well just say space marine and take your 3+ save an 1 or 2 dies and your ready to kill him next round if he assaults I counter attacks an rip him a new one. So it’s a win win .
If he surrounds the rhino you can fire the storm bolter on the rhino and the rhino have 2 firing points it is not much but if he won’t break the rhino he can’t kill your marines
nope no air con
power armour proberbly has AC
and your right how do 10 guys in power armour fit in a rhino
T.A.R.D.I.S.
They have swimming pools, jackuzzis and pole dancing strippers in Rhino’s.
I don’t remember his name, but someone actually modelled a Rhino with ten marines inside, they do fit, it’s just a tight squeeze. You can probably google it.
Yeah, the rhino could also pop smoke if the unit has a weapon that could destroy it, and in CC since it moved 12 inches it would take a 6+ to hit it. If you do this with a few rhinos, it works even better. Like was stated earlier.. Rhino rush. It was a great tactic in fourth with the Plague Marines.
You can not pivot and assault out of it.
And i know there just ultramarines, but dont manhandel those mini’s like that, there painted up (X_x)
Ultra marines like to be man manhandled.
Its a good point you have made. You can pivot as many times as you want before getting out. pivoting dose not count as moving
Perhaps the marines who are ultra may like being manhandled, but I’m certain the Ultramarines do not.
Disembarking
Bulet 2 page 67
If the vehicle has already moved (including pivoting on the spot) the passengers may disembark, but not move………………………..but may not assault.
I may not have been clear with my last comment. In normal movement you may pivot as many times as you want Maxdammit is 100% correct about pivoting and assaulting
under the disembarking rule page 67 it states pivoting counts as moving so passengers can’t move after disembarking
Thank you for the info, much appreciated.
sounds like a goodly tactic.
forgot to ask if smoke would help, thanks Battlebrother!
Bit risky imo if they dont crew shaken you with shooting they might do it in the assault meaning your marines would be stuck in the rhino for another turn. Or it blows up and takes 1+ marines out in the explosion
It’s risky but I’ve seen people use this tactic to AMAZING effect.
On a side note, what ever happened to John? I miss his painting videos, and his T-shirts, lol 🙂
I always use this with my Worldeaters, if you make sure that one side door is facing the enemy, the other away from them and you park far enough away to avoid being surrounded then its all good. If they stay where they are, get out the nearest door and assault. If they come close and try to hit the vehicle they block the closest door so you just get out the other side. If the vehicle is explodes (1/6 or 1/3 with AP1) then you may lose a couple of guys, which is hardly traumatic when starting with 8… Read more »
The trick is the distance and positioning. What you want to do, because you’ll be sitting still for a turn, is ideally drive up, turn exactly sideways, and stop exactly far enough away to prevent popping.. e.g. against CC you want to be 12.1 to 14 inches away, so that you are too far to be assaulted or surrounded, but close enough for you to assault even if they don’t move towards you. of course a smart player will move back 3 inches, especially if they have some other shooty options but hey thems the breaks.
sorry, 12.1 to 15 inches (because of size of base 🙂
yep good tactic darrell
I’ve used this tactic with excellent results using Blood Angels. The only other advice I got give is to pop smoke while you’re guys hang tight.
having two Rhinos over there you could tank shock with other one. force the enemy to move away AFTER you moved 6″ and disembarked your guys in front of them. next turn tank shocking Rhinos goes away and you can easily assault them. or get assaulted if the enemy decides to go around the tank shocking Rhino and assault you instead 😀 risky tactic but good to remember and to use at certain situations. the other thing you could do with two Rhinos is to keep a 2″ gap between them and put Rhinos in V formation pointing at the… Read more »
