We've been challenged to create a Dark Eldar list that might just be able to cut it in the competitive scene, without resorting to the usual Venom Spam or Hellion Swarm... can the guys do it?

Hi , I play DE from the new codex .
When you take Heamonculus the Wracs (elites become troops) .
Against SM i rather go with wracks with D6 AP flamers
As i’m at work don’t have tlist will post in the afternoon but basic tips .
You are forgetting Reavers are perfect units 9 models with 3 blasters .and/or Culster drops S6 d6 hits when going 36″ .
Void bomber + 2 ravagers 3 Raiders . if you go first … enemy just does not have any armor left in his turn . 11 lances + Reavers .
Regarding the Hexrifle It is good to take 6groups of 3 Wracks (1 sergant with hexrifle the other two just to soak up the incoming fire) 55pts + 3 haemonculi with 3 hexrifles . 9 sniper rifles that can make a difference
no 3 ravagers ( or 2 and 1 razorwing, the voidraven its too expensinve and you have to pay for the misiles, the razorwing gets the basics for free, and the void lances arent much better than the dark lances) or no 2 blasterborn vemon = no competitive dark eldar, apart of that witches never should go on foot the dont stan shooting but in cc they get the 4++, they are too fragile out of cc, and you get an extra dark lance for each witch scuand on the raider, in adition, you spam transport, so it compensates for… Read more »
Against orks /Tyranids i use Jetfigher but agians SM and maybe IG i use Voidbomber and i don’t buy the missiles . max against Grey knights the implosion ones. 1 max two .
There is a way to play Witches in the open by foot but you need to play double Webway portal .
oh my god, it is “wych” not “wytch”. Why can’t you guys never get ANY of the DE names right? Really -.-‘
So you guys are missing one of the keys to a good Dark Eldar army. The army is a glass cannon it dishes out the damage but is easy to break, but it has every thing you need to make up for that. Look at the rule “share the pain” This allows you to virtually trad pain tokens from you HQ’s AkA “Haermonculus” to your petty units. also look at how characters detach from units you can fly right up to a unit, dissintagrator cannon them, deploy 2″ out, (and leave the Haermonculus behind while giving the wychs the pain… Read more »
why do you guys btw try to play Blood Angels with DE? If you’re going to play Wych cult without portal then at least bring 4 raiders/venoms and 2 ravagers. Also do not waste points on agonisers for the haemonculi. The way you have given haywire grenades is also illegal. DE are a glass cannon, so don’t try to play them as a swarm list and next time you try to do something with DE, then at least put a little effort into it. Seriously.
I like grotesques but I don’t like their price.
o ya lol, that is illegal to not give the full squad grenades.
I have yet to see the full details of the new rules… however one thing makes me think my Dark Eldar army is not going to enjoy the new edition, and that is “Overwatch”. The one thing these guys are really good at is reaching their target quickly and dishing out the pain. Now the prospect of charging a platoon of Imp. Guard looks like a suicide run. Necrons have the resilience to pull this off, but even at BS1 a lot of Eldar are not going to reach their target. Whilst this is a realistic idea, in game terms… Read more »
@jasbrick I have a feeling the new rules could be bad for light assault troops as well, however it will depend greatly on how that ends up being worded – If its like fantasy where you can choose who you shoot then it will be if it is well done you will probably see sacrifical units being charged in to pin then major assaults following in. Also depends on other factors limiting the use of overwatch and if light assault gain anything from the new rules. I do think the major problem the Dark Eldar have is dependant on the… Read more »
Just picked up my copy of the new rule book and the rules for overwatch are as stated… yes, sacrificial units will have to be the way to get round this (as you only get one overwatch fire per turn and if engaged you are unable to overwatch). Personally I play more for fun than competition (hence using Dark Eldar), however it does mean quite a rethink in strategy.
