I agree with Warren entirely on the my opinion is most important to me.
But I’d word it differently. Its my Hobby, not yours. Its Your Hobby, not mine.
I got the limited edition DA codex for $150. The Standard edition is $83 in Australia. im pretty annoyed about the spelling mistakes or the fact that i now have to walk around with a paper print out with my brand new codex. These mistakes should have been picked up before these books were even printed or during testing if any even took place. I agree with Warren on a previous video. It feels like they released the book knowing the errors were there and decided to fix it later because they wanted to meet their deadline.
Proof readers would have picked holes in the Codex
insert quip about Finecast here….
The new codices are straight forward and not complex. When you look at the models released recently along whit these, bar the new raptors in my opinion, they have a zoid/power ranger look and feel to them. Possible with the view to target the younger audiences. When you compare them to the forgeworld books, for example the rules in Betrayal, the customisable options are diverse, rules more complex and the forgeworld models included aimed at the more seasoned gamer (or those whom love the cool models). Compare the codices from 4th edition, where there was much room for customisation, the… Read more »
Mini con
I quite like that!
A little obvious and also taken. I’m going there this weekend in fact.

How about referencing the YouTube channel’s Grumpy Old (war) Gamers?
GOGcon
because GOWGcon is completely unpronouncable.
Awesome, so there will be at least two of us there, then!
Personally I’m looking forward to trying out Dreadball tomorrow.
Thank you guys so much for normalizing/compressing the sound ! SO much better and way easier to listen to and enjoy. Truly thank you for listening !
could you give us a hint in what will be gong on at this event? is it strictly 40k? all wargames? all things tabletop? this might help get the creative juices going. Until we find out I think I would like to go with ‘Table Top Tussle’
guys, I thought you were going to have some army list’s for us to look at like: “Ben and Bob the librarian show”. I am a noobie and would love to see your army ideas.l
Thought this was a great video to watch whilst painting skaven slaves (sigh…they never end!) I think it was interesting to hear the larger scope/ general views on 40k and GW. Would have been even more interesting to hear the contrasting views of Andy and Darrell, as to why the competitive aspect draws some people in more.
Also loved the innuendos, the sanguinors blessing will never get old.
How about “the south east little men convention”? 🙂
I wonder how it all will work together. A army list would be great or another battle “report”. But it seems like my existing army needs only very few additions. Great job, all the videos of this week have been very good. One thing I wanted to note: It seems like the german version contains only half the number of errors as the original english one.. very strange (only verterans, techmarine and azrael mistakes). Anyone experiences with other language versions? There because if there are fewer errors in the translated versions did they print a wrong original version. If the… Read more »
As the English version of a codex is finalised before sending to the translators, I can only imagine that the errors were caught by the studio after the Dark Angels book was sent to print in China for the English language versions but in time for some of the translated master files to be caught and corrected. Which means they knew there was an pile of errors before the book was sold… I refer you to my thoughts in the video.
I hope that Dreadball ended up being for wargamers the same as Stacraft is for south-koreans 😀 ( or that place is already ocuppied by Warmahordes ? )
PD: Justin the Image Caller!
PD2: First time i see a space marine without a power armor O.o
Name for the event ? CHEESE-CON!
War Con. Enjoyed the show. I tend to agree with Warren that the two 6th books are noticeably different to the previous lot, and I’m not talking power or effectiveness, but previous books had fluff that translated into game rules (as per blood talons et al) , whereas now fluff for weapons or objects seems to have little bearing on the rules they actually use. That , for me, makes those new armies a bit bland, fluff in a book is all well and good, but if it sjust for reading, Black Library do it so much better, in the… Read more »
Superb show, excellent conversation, sound crisp and clear. Very well done 🙂
A bit dull but……. EssexCon ?
DA were my first army as well, great theme, robes…Terminators and Bikes, woohoo! This codex is seriously meh, except for the devastation banner in a Landraider, I’m worried about being able to field these guys in my meta and have them be fun to play. The biggest disappointment was that the cost of Deathwing and Ravenwing is just too high to field enough models. 1 wound models with a lot of tricks are still just 1 wound models – easy to fix by giving them another wound or get them to 35-40 points base. I also play Tau and am… Read more »
If GW Thinks its the Rolls Royce of tabletop war gaming It Better take care of business and those who spend their hard earned cash to support them.
Win-a-con
Guys – the books you’ve mentioned, that had the binding problem, were all printed in China and in the UK.
Everyone one who has the book must read the small blue box on page 3 – talk about a starter army :L
The book is disappointing but we need to make the most of it. Heres are a few ideas I’ve come up with anyway (I’ve already mentioned them somewhere else as well): Dark Angels – Good combos Terminator surprise: Belial w/ TH/SS 190 10x Deathwing Terminators 440 10x TH/SS 50 2x Cyclone ML’s 50 =730pts Expensive but nobody likes having 10 scoring TH/SS termies behind them, turn one without scattering and with 4 missiles (which can be fired at different targets and are TL!!). Dark Angel drop squad: Azreal 215 9x Veteran Squad 162 7x Combi-plasmas 70 2x Meltaguns 20 Drop… Read more »
I feel the same way as Warren about the codex, in that I was looking forward to this for ages and then they sell it with a bunch of mistakes that could’ve easily been avoided. I imagine with the digital codex that FAQ’s would be available as an automatic update to it – if not, that’s even worse as at least with a book version, you’d have a place to put your printed FAQ into. Something I don’t like about the FAQ’s in general, is that GW doesn’t mention on their main page that they have made mistakes and then… Read more »
I think everyone has missed a big point on the Dark Angles Codex topic. and that is …. Jeremy Vetock. This guy has spent a lot more time with Warhammer and LOTR the past few years, with Dark angles being is first Codex in a while. This is why it has such a very big shift in perspective. Yes it may have been rushed. Yes it may have mistakes. (but almost all their books even black library, has spelling errors that get overlooked) Yes it may feel underpowered or “nerfed” but take a few steps back and think about the… Read more »
Great series of videos. I really like the varied guests which generate intersting topics.
As for the Dark Angels I bought all the Codices for Fifth Edition but am not wasting money on a poorer produced products now.
My suggestion for the convention is “Art’s Of War:UK”
Looking forward to more excellent content
Well that was a marathon…….Beasts, Templars & War con or BTWcon
white scars did have dreadnoughts they just very rarely inter marines in them as they view it as terrifying due to their nomad heritage… still think its wrong that they have a dreadnought in their painted white scars its not natural! good points on the fiddling with dark angel background several gamers in my area a little bitter about that. Stu seems to have an excellent point about the IP of GW so… yeah. The passion is always why we stick to things regardless i hope you remain full of it as it what makes your videos so fun to… Read more »
