Face A Tarrasque & Defend The Dungeons & Lasers Pub!

Archon Studio has released a whole host of new Dungeons & Lasers plastic kits containing terrain, monsters and more for you to use in your roleplaying games. If you're looking to set up some fun encounters on the tabletop then take a peek at what they have to offer, all of which is compatible with roleplaying games like D&D 5th Edition.
Scales & Ales Tavern // Dungeons & Lasers
We start with the beginning of any good adventure. Tall tales can be told and daring deeds can be deliberated in a place like the Scales & Ales Tavern. This is an absolutely massive kit from Archon which allows you to build a multi-level tavern that would be grand for all manner of different encounters.
The Scales & Ales Tavern comes with loads of detail packed into the plastic kit and the modular nature of it means that you could bring this to life in a number of different ways if you wish. You'll note that it has ground and upper floors as well as a basement where rats and all sorts can cause chaos.
Scales & Ales Tavern - Complete // Dungeons & Lasers
As you can see, the Tavern comes with detailed interiors as well as exteriors and you can craft all sorts of nooks and crannies for assassins to be hiding in. The terrain has also been designed with an inbuilt grid to it so you won't have to worry about moving around inside and checking your measurements. It should all be handled by the tiles within!
Scales & Ales Tavern - Interior // Dungeons & Lasers
As a hefty plastic kit, this might be a bit of a luxury buy but considering the modular nature of the tiles, it should mean that if you don't glue this together you could make this into all manner of different buildings should you want to. Maybe you could convince your roleplay group to split the cost and all help out in getting this to the tabletop?
Forests & Rivers
As well as the large Tavern set, you can also pick up a couple of terrain sets which would be handy for wilderness encounters. It should be noted that whilst this range has its roots in roleplaying games, there's nothing stopping you from picking these up to use in some wargames as well!
Trees Pack // Dungeons & Lasers
This Tree Pack for example comes with a range of hard plastic trees which are both mystical and rather regular. You could make a delightful magical forest with this terrain, especially if you're looking to head off to the Fae realm perhaps.
You could then match this Tree Pack with the Modular River which might be winding its way through the middle of that Fae wood you've been exploring.
Modular River // Dungeons & Lasers
This set comes with clear plastic representing the river and the rocky bank that sits to either side. The river being modular means that you can tinker with the layout of this and you could also just use end pieces to represent small pools and such. You get eight pieces in the set making quite a nice section of water for you to deal with. It's a bit more "magical" so it might not work for more grounded Historical games but it sure looks nice and inviting!
Followers & Fantasy Friends
You can also get some new miniatures from Archon as well with this latest set of releases. You might meet this neat Stagecoach on the road perhaps and need to defend it against the attention of rampaging Kobolds.
Stagecoach // Dungeons & Lasers
Laden down with goods, this seems like it could well be someone's home as well as it being a nice way to traverse the lands. There is plenty there to draw the eye and get your players wondering about what might be inside it which is nice. You could make all sorts of adventure hooks simply by what's on the back of this horse-drawn hovel!
You can also get yourself a new set of Fantasy Miniatures. All of these could work as companions or perhaps player characters in their own right.
Fantasy Miniatures Set // Dungeons & Lasers
Not every hero wears heavy plate armour and carried a shiny sword. This set comes with a lot more than what you see here but this does give you a good idea of contents.
Fantasy Miniatures Set - Detail // Dungeons & Lasers
Inside the set, you get Harpies, Vipers, Frogfolk, Mud Crabs, a Troll, a Wendigo and much, much more. All of these could be used to represent characters that you meet on the road, foes that you need to face during your adventures or perhaps even quest-givers! I like the idea of getting a quest from a giant, man-eating crab. It would certainly shake things up as long as your players aren't murder hobos.
Tarrasque Time!
One of the biggest creatures in the D&D Monster Manual and perhaps one of the most feared is the Tarrasque. Well, Archon has now made one for you in plastic and you can now use it to terrorise your opponents.
Tarrasque // Dungeons & Lasers
Now, this isn't quite as big as some Tarrasque that you might have seen in art pieces but it is still pretty hefty. It is 186mm tall and sits at 386mm long. I love the idea that perhaps this is the final boss at the end of your campaign, summoned by the evil wizard and now threatening to tear apart the town your heroes call home.
Tarrasque - Scale Comparison // Dungeons & Lasers
As you can see, it does tower over a regular 32mm miniature. I think this would be a lot of fun to paint as well, especially if you played around with Contrast or Speed Paint in order to get it done quickly.
Are you ready to defend the Scales & Ales Tavern against a rampaging Tarrasque?
