Tabletop Episode 19: Dragon Age RPG (And Bad Dice Rolling…)!
January 31, 2013 by brennon
Tabletop is back for another role-playing session and this time Wil Wheaton takes his buddies through a session of the awesome Dragon Age Role-Playing Game by Green Ronin...
This pen and paper role-playing experience is set in the hit video game world of Dragon Age. In it you take on the mantle of adventurers and Grey Wardens looking to put down the deadly blight of Darkspawn spreading throughout the realm.
The real question is can Wil Wheaton actually learn to curb his bad dice luck and protect the party! This is a seriously fun episode and it's great to see more role-playing games on Tabletop. Plus, if you loved the video games that inspired the game it will be a great chance for you to return to the land of Fereldan and experience an alternative storyline.
Give it a watch and see what you think of this epic tale!
Really fun episode to see and was just how a good gaming session should be. I’ve been curious about this game for quite a while so I’m glad that it’s been covered. Seems to be relatively simple and fast to play, I may have to pick this one up!

Are free and have pre-made characters + an adventure for you to run. Might be a good starting point 🙂

Thanks for the link Ben. I’m looking forward to giving this a go 🙂
YES !
Some real RPG, at last !
I’ve now gone back to re-reading the rulebook/dungeon masters guide and dug out Dragon Age: Origins for a few games lol.

What… you mean you don’t have an ongoing Fantasy campaign in some setting or another ? 🙂
Sadly no. We used to have an ongoing Deathwatch and D&D game but the DM has left the country and we don’t have a lot of time in our gaming group anymore! Hoping to remedy that with some one shot role-plays in the future though.
Ask me when i’m around, I’ll run a few games for you…
I liked that, I really enjoy all the tabletop shows, but this is perhaps the best one for me, lots of laughs and really showing the fun of a rpg. I have to say, I think Tabletop is a great showcase for the hobby , not just for showing the games themselves, but with Will Wheaton and his celebrity friends , that it isnt some odd hobby restricted to the cliched socially awkward (which given the social nature of all these games is something I always found somewhat ironic). With on the table added to it, I have to say… Read more »
Wonderful episode.
Wil discussed RPGs on Tabletop on his Hangout (which is well worth a watch) and mentioned a possible sub series devoted to rpg!
Glad to see and hope for more. Pretty please.
Ah finally! Wil has been talking about this episode ever since he announced Tabletop.
It’s also nice to see some D6 based RPG’s for a change!
Hey, I ment that in a good way…
Oh, well
Someone applied a negative modifier when they shouldn’t have! lol
Remind me of many a afternoon/evening/night in a smelly teenage boys room – and nice to see Wil can roll dice like me …
Fun episode, and I actually knew who all the people playing were this time!
How much fun RPGs are is always way more about the players you have than the game engine or even the universe it’s set it. I love this kind of stuff, but sadly most of the people I know that’ll play games are not suited to role playing games. It’s a real shame, because games like Fiasco, Call of Cthulhu and Dark Heresy just languish on my shelf… 🙁
Out takes time!
Hopefully will help with wildrawal symptoms until part 2
