Journey Solo Through The Dark Wilderness On Gamefound
May 27, 2022 by fcostin
I am often on the hunt for a new solo roleplaying adventure, a chance to wield my pen and flex some creativity on an unescorted journey. If horror is your theme, and you are brave to conquer monsters alone in a desolate environment, you may want to head over to Gamefound for Disaster Tourism's solo journaling game, The Dark.
The Dark // Disaster Tourism
Heading towards the one direction you know, straight up ahead. There's no evidence that this leads you to safety, but it's better than the way you came from. Daylight is escaping, sneaking through the trees overhead. However, darkness is waiting to envelop the forest - with horrors awaiting in the shadows. You will need to remember who you are and search through your brain before all hope is lost and you join the forest on a route to darkness.
Players will be taking the role of final survivors in their friendship group. Prior, they headed out to the middle of nowhere for their own camping adventure in Scandinavia. But when the forces of darkness started to take a grip on the wilderness, the numbers of the group began to dwindle. Leaving you completely alone, desperately in search to wander aimlessly in the forest avoiding the darkness eager to consume.
Clinging on to happy memories of your past in attempts to rally the control of the dark awaiting beast, your flickering light is dwindling - so long as you stay grounded and remember those who keep you in light - you will not lose control of the darkness.
The Dark Gamefound Pledge // Disaster Tourism
All that's needed to play the game is a deck of cards, a set of dice, a journal and candles, and a night in on your lonesome to battle out the encroaching threat immersed in the woodland. Placing players in a scenario of true desolation - alone with their own minds and thoughts to hope and escape.
There are several different pledges, whether you are after The Dark as a digital experience or physical. Players can get their hands on both versions over on the Gamefound campaign page, with the fulfilment of the PDF as early as July 2022.
Quite an interesting concept - and certainly one that would get your brain ticking! Fighting alone for survival in pure darkness... sounds like a great job for my whimsical brain!

Sounds like an unusual interesting game.
Love the idea and having never tried a solo RPG, I’m on the lookout for one to dive into.
Checked out the campaign page though and the introduction has a typo or grammatical error on almost every line. In a game where you’re essentially reading to yourself, that’s a fairly terminal problem.
