Role-Play Across The World With Fantasy Grounds
September 1, 2015 by brennon
We've been thinking a bit more about role-playing games recently and also about how to play as a studio when some of us are far away in other countries. Well, Fantasy Grounds looks like a great digital alternative and it even has the blessing of Wizards of the Coast to host Dungeons & Dragons too!
As you can see above in the video tutorial there are plenty of exciting options for playing a lot of different role-playing systems with this platform. Dungeons & Dragons has really captured our imaginations once again however so it will be fun to see how it all works.
We'd also love to know if you guys have used this system and whether or not it works well. It is available over on Steam so if you're looking for a way to pick it up and the associated downloadable content packs this seems like the best way to do so.
Let us know if you've used Fantasy Grounds!

I bought FG a few years ago. It’s a great program. The one thing missing is voice chat. After that there’s a few license levels. The lower one lets you log in to remote games as a… Read more »
for RPG over the net , look at Roll20.net.
it supports pretty much everything FG does , but doesnt require a download , it is browser based, uses a subscription , has an Ipad app that allows you to run your stats in the app and concentrate on the maps on your computer.
Lots of fan written rulessets , it can host voip I beleive but we used a teamspeak chat client of better quality.
Roll20 is good to. I ruled it out for myself because I like to do a LOT of preparation in advance and it was pretty expensive to store all that data (sub cost is based on how much data you save for your games, or at least that is how it worked back when I compared). Also the sub cost would have far exceeded the one time purchase price of FG for me by now. Roll 20 does have a lot going for it though and folks should definitely check it out and see if it works for their game/group.… Read more »
