Pathfinder & Obsidian Entertainment Joining Forces!
August 14, 2014 by brennon
Obsidian Entertainment are a company who has been making amazing role-playing games for many years and they have now teamed up with Paizo and the Pathfinder RPG to start creating video games from their world!
The first game that Obsidian will be working on is a tablet based game using the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game. This sounds like a perfect starting point and should be one of those games that fits into the micro-transaction world we now live in. Done all your adventures? Download another pack!
Hopefully as Pillars of Eternity gets a release (the other big Obsidian game coming soon) we'll see the focus move to making a proper big isometric-view RPG based in the Pathfinder world.

A digital version of the PACG sounds rad because that will do away with the setup time which is one of the fair criticisms that can be levelled against it. It also means that another company is closing in on my Grand Digital Deck Building Game idea. I’d better hurry up with that 😀
I’m excited for Pathfinder to go digital and look forward to new games. On the other hand I really don’t like CCG, just my tastes. I hope after this game they try some other styles.
Tablet based RPG , using the Pathfinder rules would be amazing
NOT and MMO , but a truly immersive DM and players game.
Hmm, if it was a game that aped the old Infinity engine games of yore then I could get excited about it. I suppose we’ve got Pillars of Eternity to fill that niche and it shaping up to be a fun experience but Pathfinder as an electronic card game?
Not for me, sadly 🙁
Obsidian are one of my favourite videogame developers though (my avatar might give that away) so at least we know Paizo have chosen wisely, for whom to hand out the I.P.
Now If only some muppets in Nottingham would take the same approach!
Isn’t there also a Pathfinder MMO in the making? There was something on Kickstarter a while back …
