Pathfinder Goes MMORPG with Goblinworks
November 28, 2011 by brennon
Yes you heard right, it seems as if Paizo Publishings Pathfinder roleplay is getting the MMORPG treatment. The roleplaying game bridging the gap between D&D 3.5 and Wizards of the Coasts 4th Edition is going down the route of DDO and all the other online roleplaying games out there.
In conjunction with Goblinworks the game is bringing Pathfinder to the digital landscape boasting the ability for players and their characters to have a direct influence on the world and how it grows and develops. The main thing is whether or not they can keep that spirit of the dungeon dwelling party together in the transition.
Will this be something you would look into?

It sounds good, but how close will we actually get to what they’re promising?
Still if we can create a nation of BeastsOfWarLand that might be fun for a couple days…
I’d say pretty close… Everyone remembers the whole stream of games based off on the D&D rules, before third edition even (Baldur’s Gate, Neverwinter nights, etc.)… It’s quite possible to make video games that follow the Pathfinder rules. I agree with you on the time aspect, Romain. As I’ve gotten more and more into tabletop over the last five or more years (specifically working on my painting skill) I’ve been less and less likely to sit down a play a videogame. I look at the time spent with each endeavor and realize that at the end of one activity I’m left with painted models and with the other, I’m only left with memories (and probably crumbs on the couch). Therefore, it’s unlikely that I’ll try another MMO but I keep watching for one that comes along and does… Read more »
Worth keeping an eye on. Apparently the team at Goblinworks are ex CCP members who made Eve Online. In terms of sand box/creation games they’d have a fair grasp of what’s required. Hopefully they can pull it off in a fantasy setting.
My head is going crazy with what could be created. Imagining Beastofwarland’s temple dedicated to cheese just has too much going for it.
