Osprey Games are going to be publishing Those Dark Places: Industrial Science Fiction Roleplaying written by Jonathan Hicks and featuring stunning illustrations by Nathan Anderson later this year in November 2020.
Those Dark Places //Osprey Games
Inspired by Sci-Fi thrillers like Alien and Dead Space, this is a dark and claustrophobic roleplaying game where there is danger around every corner even if you never glimpse it. You'll be adventuring into the furthest reaches of space to explore the unknown and maybe find something that should have remained hidden.
"Space is a hell of a thing but you need to be sure that this is what you want. Like, what you really want. The idea of space exploration to further the frontiers of mankind is noble, but let's not kid ourselves – it’s really all about furthering the profit margins. There’s money to be made and out there is the place to make it, but you hear all kinds of stories… equipment malfunctions, strange discoveries, crewmembers going insane... You'll be out there in the reaches, alone, for months or years, breathing recycled air and drinking recycled water, with nothing but a few feet of metal and shielding between you and certain death. Are you sure this is what you want?"
I love the idea of a set of rules which allows you to play all manner of different stories which draw on the dark and terrifying prospect of being lost in the void of space, cut off from Earth and with just a small group of scientists and explorers trying to make sense of what they find.
Those Dark Places Artwork // Osprey Games
The artwork alone has drawn me in, bringing back memories of watching those old Sci-Fi thrillers where nothing is quite as it seems. I love the idea of telling a story which isn't all about planet-hopping adventures but instead is focused around one space ship or space station. Moving a story into those tight confines gives you the chance to richly detail and define the players surroundings and make them doubt everything, even those they might have called allies.
What stories would you tell with Those Dark Places?

Thanks Tankkommander for that. I have downloaded my copy of mothership. It looks great
I’m increasingly impressed with Osprey’s RPG side. I really like their editions of Paleomythic and Romance of the Perilous Lands. I’ll check this one out as well.
