Minx Studios Head Down Into The Labyrinth With New Minotaur
May 19, 2014 by brennon
Minx Studios are, admittedly, a company I hadn't heard much about until I saw their Minotaur pop up on Facebook. These folk are going to be taking their miniature sculpting to Kickstarter very soon (May 23rd in fact!) so take a look at this horned hero...
Now that is one dangerously cool looking miniature and I love the idea of taking the monstrous aspect of a Minotaur and turning it towards something more heroic. I remember when they were added as a playable race in Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition - I think most of my group wanted to start picking them up as a new party member possibility.
I think this is a brilliant looking sculpt and I can't wait to see what else comes out of their Kickstarter later this week.
What do you think?
I can only imagine the damage that a bowshot from a minotaur would do… WHIP…. THUDD…DEAD
Haha yus – would be like firing a ballista at someone. Epic.
hahah never thought of it that way!
we love him even more now!
It’s nice, but not as menacing as the ripped Scibor minotaurs, or the ones Mierce produces. Still, a good figure for a PC, and it may just come down to price. For me, I picked up a bunch of Reaper Bones minotaurs for a pittance, and will eventually build a Mierce/Scibor command group.
You would be correct, our minotaur is instead themed around the concept of “The Hunter”… we imagined Theseus and the Minotaur, with the minotaur hunting the hero down, scouring for his presence, smelling him out.
The kickstarter is live now:

Our miniatures are cast in resin so will not be comparable to reaper bones. However our miniatures are designed with painting in mind, so if thats your cup of tea then these will do very well for you!
What a handsome beast
Glad you like him! We hope we can hit his bigger ugly half breed cousin via stretch goals!
Being new to mini painting, I have to say I agree with their general premise – detail is FANTASTIC to look at but a pain in the rump (tail or not) to paint. These mini’s are detailed enough to be great looking but not so insane you need a 3 hair brush, 2 weeks, and Romain level skills to paint them. I also love the slightly more realistic look (if you can say that about a fantasy creature) of this Minotaur. This guy doesn’t look so to heavy he’d fall over and I could actually see him fitting inside a… Read more »
