Lucid Eye has been expanding their Fantasy world of The Red Book Of The Elf King with a new systemless roleplaying sourcebook called The Elfking which is going to be available to snap up pretty soon!

Fragments Of Eas - Lucid Eye

Fragments Of Eas // Lucid Eye

The idea of the first book is that it won't contain rules but it will feature an exploration of the fantastic lands of Eas. You'll learn about its peoples, its major players and the realms that you would normally be battling over in The Red Book Of The Elf King.

Fragments Of Eas Art #1 - Lucid Eye

Here's some of the lore of the world that you're going to be exploring...

"Within these pages, a lexicon of the wonderous Lands of Eas is presented, as well as a gateway into the lives of the immortal Fae who dwell there. Eas is a world like and yet unlike and many things are familiar. There are trackless forests where hungry wolves prowl, bitter and sharp coastlines upon which breaks the raging surf and lone mountain peaks where soaring eagles come to roost. Yet there are darker things which walk abroad, shapes unfamiliar, those without names, those who lumber and slither or flit, unknown to all but those most steeped in lore: Those things which are nought but malice incarnate, whose sole compunction is to spread Death within the Immortal Realm."

I am all for art books and I am all for books that explore the lore of a Fantasy world. The Red Book Of The Elf King is a fascinating one with a focus on the clashes between Fae Elves, Trolls and Humans with a focus on storytelling and narrative that wouldn't feel out of place in a Norse Saga.

"Though there is danger, there is also beauty, made all the keener by this very dread. Eas is a land of contrasts, steeped in Fae Glamour, it exists through the sheer will of the Immortals who live there. It is a Fae wonderland, half sleeping under the icy clutches of the bitter Fimbulwinter. A place beset by the machinations of Hel, Troll, Mortal and even the Fae themselves. All of these forces are locked in a mutually destructive death cycle of hatred, all spurred on by the supreme Lord of Hate, The Unspoken, King of Hel, Brother to The Elfking Himself. The Fae are easy prey in this matter, subject, as they are, to personal vendettas and long sagas of tragic vengeance. For the Fae, to be forgotten is a fate worse than Death. It is the ultimate aim of each of them, to see themselves, their stories and sagas, written within the pages of their Red Book, to be unremembered resigns their very essence to oblivion so that it seems better never to have lived at all."

The setting information that you get in this first supplement would be great for those wanting to dive into a different world in their Dungeons & Dragons games or perhaps alongside other games like Drakar och Demoner which feels like it would be the perfect fit for Elfking as a system.

Fragments Of Eas Art #2 - Lucid Eye

With such a neat array of miniatures to choose from for the wargame and a wonderfully intriguing slice of lore already available, this sounds like it would be fun to pick up. I'm a big fan of the aesthetic of The Red Book Of The Elf King and the "larger than life" elements of the world of Eas should make for a very different style of roleplaying game.

A New Monster!

Talking of the wild and weird world of Eas, we also got a brand new miniature from Lucid Eye this week!

Bitterlag - Lucid Eye

Bitterlag // Lucid Eye

The Bitterlag is a terrible fiend that has stalked out of a nightmare and is no doubt a monstrous foe for to all, be they Troll, Human or Fae. I would imagine that Lucid Eye will take some time to create some fun dungeon-dwelling creatures that you might bump into away from the battlefield and instead roleplaying in Eas!

Will you be keeping an eye out for this?
