John Carter Gets New Lease On Life With RPG From Modiphius
July 16, 2015 by stvitusdancern
Modiphius has announced that they will breathing new life into the John Carter franchise with a new RPG.
John Carter stories are the work of Sir Edgar Rice Burroughs the author of Tarzan. The basis of the story of John Carter is that he is a Confederate officer who survives the American Civil War only to find himself transport to a version of Mars call Barsoom and has all kinds of adventures.
Modiphius has told us that the RPG version will be released around Christmas time of this year and be based on the 2d20 LITE system, a streamlined system in their other RPGs.
They also have plans of releasing miniatures in the spring of 2016 and a board game in the summer of that year. Let us hope that these games will be better than the movie and have a long successful life.
Do you think John Carter deserves another chance?

Man Modiphius is procuring a ton of licenses – reminds me of mid 2000’s Mongoose… now if only they would start producing and selling some of these games…
The movie was far better than the books, they did not age well.
It’s sad but very true.
I’ve been reading the Conan RPG play test rules. I’m liking the 2D20 system, as well as threat points to buy more D20’s to roll.
I loved the film the game may be worth a look.
