FFG’s Star Wars RPG 30th Anniversary Edition Is Here!
July 13, 2018 by stvitusdancern
Fantasy Flight Games (FFG) has released the 30th Anniversary edition of the Star Wars RPG originally published by West End Games.
I was very excited to report on this at last year's Gen Con and I know we have been teasing it ever since. The new two-book set will include the Role Playing Game and the Source Book. The Role Playing Book is where you will find all of the rules and guides to creating your characters.
There is also a section for the Game Master (GM) to help guide the players through an adventure. The Source Book will include information about ships, weapons, vehicles and creatures. A whole bunch of great information for creating the perfect world to play in.
While FFG took great pains to keep the originals intact they have also updated some of the pictures to help as the story has progressed. It is now printed in a higher quality and on better stock.
I am looking forward to getting my own copy so my originals can stay safely stored. My hope for the future is that FFG will release some adventures for the game and we see an accepting audience ready to travel to a galaxy far far away!
Will the Force be with you?

Never played it myself but I recall the old d6 system was highly regarded.
best version of SW as an rpg ever made. I’ll be picking this up to sit shiny and lovely on my shelf besides my old well worn 2nd edition
I would agree. It allowed the players to achieve really heroic deeds. Must say in all the years they were around I don’t think West End ever made a bad game
Still have the original books and second edition. Picked up the revised and expanded a few months ago from eBay.
Although it would be nice to own a pristine copy, it probably won’t get used.
We had so much fun with this RPG many years and i own almost every book except the Live-RPG books. I always wanted to revisit this, but my friends continued with the D20, Saga-Edition and the FFG-Version. Wasn’t my kind of RPG. And i had my episode with SW when the Yhuzzan Vong Books came out. I really disliked this era. I will always be a fan of the rebellion era and the new republik era described by WEG. For me Star Wars ended with the Hand of Thrawn books.
Never played an this looks good.
I got my copy last week. I’m really tempted to try and convert some of the FFG SW campaign materials to the D6 system. My friends and I tried the FFG Edge of the Empire game but we didn’t stick with it. The gimmicky dice system really distracted from the game. I know a good GM can overcome any game system but there comes a point where it’s not worth it.
If you love StarWars and want to try an RPG I absolutely recommend this game/book. The various other versions are ok but this is the best.
Feels like the 30th anniversary of when they announced the game. Still looking for to picking up my copy tomorrow
Looks tempting.
