Fancy A Cthulhu-esque Adventure in Viking-Age Iceland?
June 13, 2012 by brennon
The Dark Ages were a time of great superstition and myth where legends were written about mighty heroes. So how would you fancy Role-Playing as one of those heroes facing off against the mythical and the horrifying in Mythic Iceland from Chaosium Inc?
"In mythic Iceland, all the creatures of myth and all the magical aspects of life really do exist, and they play a major role in peoples lives. The elves, or hidden folk, exist hidden from the eyes of the common folk, and sometimes meddle in their affairs. Those traveling through the highlands risk being attacked by trolls, and often curses and spells are laid on neighbors and enemies."
This source book includes information on the history and livelihoods of the people of Iceland during the Viking times with chapters on life, law and government and religion. As well as this the hidden folk are revealed as well as looking into how to play a Cthulhu game in the harsh frosts of the North. After all, Cthulhu isn't just around to spoil your Victorian adventures.
With an interesting spin on myth, legend and adventure might this be the quest for you?
Man Cthulhu should be every game, form of media and sport as he seems to get around a lot! As for the unibear… I think I now know what I want for my birthday.
On one messes with the uni-bear or they get mashed up!
I agree – I’ve got the football in the background and all that’s needed is Cthulhu in goal – his tentacled face saving every shot before blasting the opposition into oblivion! The question is which side would he play for?
On topic does anyone else think the polar bear looks like he’s just had a great idea?
It will take a pretty tough Mum to come back from that Iceland…
For those of us that cut some of our kiddie teeth on RQ: viking! this sound very interesting – Too bad it is not Gregg Stafford that pened it
Can I play the bear ?
