Cubicle 7 has just launched their Kickstarter for Uncharted Journeys, a new Vault 5e supplement that can be used alongside Dungeons & Dragons.

Uncharted Journeys has been designed to offer up easy-to-use rules for undertaking journeys and exploration encounters on the road. Rather than breeze through the trips from one place to another, why not make it an integral part of your games?
Inside the book, you'll find rules for gathering supplies, securing and looking after your mounts and then diving into all sorts of unique encounters along the way. At the heart of this are the new key Roles that your characters will have to adopt.
Uncharted Journeys - Leader Art // Cubicle 7
You could take on the role of the Leader who is responsible for looking after everyone and keeping you together. Maybe you fancy being the one who scouts ahead and takes on the Role of Outrider?

You can also play as the Quartermaster who is in charge of keeping bellies full and spirits high. There is also the very important Sentry who will be watching over the group whilst they sleep, making sure that creatures don't ambush you in the dark!

As well as providing you with new roles to take on as you travel, there is also additional help and information on what Classes are best suited to particular duties.
Away from the Roles, there are also plenty of tables and helpful tips for developing Travellers that you meet on the road. Find out if they are friends or foes and why they are taking to the wilderness. Talking of the wilderness, there are also rules for delving into countless ancient ruins and discovering who built them, how old they are and what creatures now dwell within them.

All of this comes alongside 1000 Journey Encounters covering ten different regions. Regions currently include Coasts, Deserts, Farmlands, Forests, Great Cities, Jungles, Mountains, Plains, the Underground and the Wilderness.

Stretch Goals // Uncharted Journeys
Stretch Goals are focused on unlocking more specialist Journey Encounters for Warzones, Haunted Lands, Fae Realms and Hellscapes. Plus, more are going to be made available as Stretch Goals are unlocked.

I like that the team at Cubicle 7 has taken what they learned from designing the Adventures In Middle-earth travel rules for 5th Edition and tweaked and updated it to introduce the diverse and varied landscapes that you find in a lot of different Fantasy roleplaying sessions. It seems like they have covered a whole bunch of bases here and it will be interesting to see what people make of it!
Add-Ons // Uncharted Journeys
I am particularly intrigued to see the tables, charts and tips for creating NPCs. I often struggle a little bit when it comes to making memorable characters so this might be quite handy!

Seems expensive, especially when you add postage. Best bet is wait until it hits retail as it will be discounted.
Yep, does seem a bit pricey. These are the travel rules from AiME so doesn’t seem to be much development time to justify that price. Looks like the 5E tax.
The core elements of the AiME rules they worked on are there but I think that there are all the extra bits and piece concerning specific environments, NPCs and the like as well. So – similar, but with a bunch more added in to match the variety of places people visit in D&D games.
Heyo, I’m one of the designers. The book is about 200 pages, all of which is brand new material, hence the price. The journey rules have been redesigned from those that appeared in AiME. They are an evolution, based on years of experience and playtesting. They work off the basic idea of Roles, but have been rebuilt so that it doesn’t just rely on a single roll of the dice. There are also new Role abilities, a chapter dedicated to creating interesting NPCs along the road, another that allows you to create ancient ruins, and then over 1000 events that… Read more »
looks an interesting world.
