Cubicle 7 has been very busy! As well as announcing Imperium Maledictum for Warhammer 40,000, they have also announced a brand new Fantasy IP. Broken Weave is going to be coming next year following on from Victoriana.

Here is what we know so far about Broken Weave and this upcoming Fantasy world from Cubicle 7...

"The weave of magic is broken. The gods are dead, the lands are shattered, and the world has begun to forget what it once was. Time and distance have lost their meaning, the knowledge of how things once were drifts away like smoke, and those who remain struggle to live in a shattered world.

But all is not lost. Community, hope, and trust in one another can remake the world. Walking the old forgotten paths gives them permanence, fractured artefacts from before spark memories of what once was, and communities gather to create a new way of life."

This sounds like a particularly fascinating setting which leans towards something decidedly more Dark Souls or Elden Ring in it's creation. Well, I am all for that! We've seen some artwork pop up for the game already thanks to the hands of JG O’Donoghue, Sam Manley, Runesael Flynn, and Dániel Kovács.

I am already onboard with the aesthetic of this world if nothing else. It's neat to see them exploring this "Tragic Fantasy" setting and it will be interesting to see how hope and community are going to be intertwined with the adventures that your characters undertake.

As someone who often finds themselves picking up and simply collecting roleplaying books and settings, this one seems fascinating. I was particularly taken by this Elf Graveyard that was previewed in the announcement article.

As with Imperium Maledictum, we're going to be keeping a close eye on what happens with Broken Weave. Are you tempted by a new Fantasy setting?
