Cubicle 7 Pre-Orders For Warhammer Fantasy Role-Play Now Available
May 4, 2018 by brennon
Cubicle 7 has been talking about their upcoming version of Warhammer Fantasy Role-Play which was a MASSIVE part of my development as I grew to like RPG gaming on the tabletop. Their new edition and pre-orders for it are now available.
Their recent blog post has talked about some of the key things they wanted to focus in on for the new game.
The first of these is that they wanted to make this a game for both newcomers to Warhammer Fantasy and the Old World as well as those who have been part of the game's development over numerous years. The second thing ties into this as they make their Starter Set for the game a very good jumping off point for everyone.

Warhammer Fantasy Role-Play Collector's Edition
The system runs on D10 polyhedron dice and is a tuned version of the D100 system that has become synonymous with this game, well, until the Fantasy Flight Games reboot. They have various systems in the works for those who want to roll dice and smash enemies, those that want to open things up to narrative elements and even an almost diceless system as well.
Warhammer Fantasy Role-Play Starter Set
The other thing they wanted to note is that the team behind the game has loved Warhammer Fantasy Role-Play and so this is a labour of love for them.
I can't wait. If this game system rocks as much as I hope it does then I am going to be jumping on this.
Bring it on!

Good to hear they’re sticking to a D100 system (could’ve sworn I’d heard it’d be D6s); played the Fantasy Flight version and didn’t enjoy it much – dunno why but using symbols and different coloured dice just felt clunky and awkward to me. DMed two sessions of second ed and it was easier and more intuitive than 3rd. Also don’t think I’d enjoy D&D as much as I do if that had dropped regular D4/6/8/10/12/20s for the FF symbols system. Sticking to a D100 system should also make it easier to convert across old modules from previous editions for those… Read more »
The upcoming 40k game Wrath & Glory is a D6 system. That might have been what you were thinking of.
Could be. 🙂
Sounds good. It’s good to see that this way they are still keeping Old World alive.
That cover, that almost-the-original-but-not-quite cover. There aren’t words for how much I love that!
Huzzah !!! I have been looking forward to this
I am really tempted, covers are beautiful. I tend to default to 2nd ed though. May get the starter to have a feel for the new rules, and see how much of the eldritch horror aspect they have kept in the game.
BOOM! Poverty, for P and C.
All I can hear is my wallet crying
cubicle 7 have become the custodians of the fantasy RPGs of my youth. all the more tempting given what a great job they’ve done with the one ring and adventures in middle earth.
Please let this be Awesome!
I was not a fine of ff’s version and never had the opportunity to play older versions, I’m looking forward to seeing how cubicle 7 does.
It’s available to purchase now. I bought the hardback rulebook and the starter set. The other item is a deluxe rulebook.
Yay bought mine yay …. yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀
(1st Edition back in 1986 led me to playing with toy soliders in thefirst place ……….all I need now is Squats reintroduced and this coupled with Blood Bowl will take me back to that happy magic time from 1986-1992 when life was a fun filled fiesta ……. before the dark time, before responsibility …..)
Well Squat (singular) has been reintroduced via Necromunda, so you’re almost there. In the meantime there’s Mantic’s Forgefathers to get you by as a stop gap waiting for the real thing. 😉
I have purchased the singular squat…..alas he is not on a bike….or an armoured suit or in a land train …. sigh … but he is a squat ….. don’t know if I will last another 30 years until the next one
If Forge World still do the Chaos Dwarf Iron Daemon you could get that and proxy it as a Marine or Guard tank and then you’ll have Squats in a land train (or at least close enough). Well, Chaos Squats at any rate. 😉
Went to buy mine, and they all look great and reasonably priced – tempted by the collectors edition. However, being restrained decide stick to the starter plan, and here ismy minor gripe why is the starter out later than the rest?
Well WFRP first edition paperback version was my go to RPG back in the day. I never played any other version no idea why the original needed changing or a new version is required as the original was a master piece.
Missed the first edition.
Loved the second edition. In my oppinion best RPG ever written. Best rules, best setting, best RPG experience ever for me. I’d give a full 10/10.
Didn’t really like third edition (that FFG 1 mio. token thingy). To much housekeeping, didn’t feel right.
As we are still playing second edition a lot I am really looking forward to this. This could be it!
