Jon Hodgson who has worked on all manner of fantastic projects including The One Ring, Adventures In Middle-earth and more has taken to Kickstarter with a very special project. Beowulf: Age Of Heroes is a new roleplaying experience which has been designed for two players (one player and one storyteller) using the D&D 5th Edition system.

Beowulf: Age Of Heroes

The idea behind this campaign is to make a storytelling adventure which works perfectly for two players. One person takes on the role of a hero a lot like Beowulf from the old poem and the other takes on the role of storyteller and games master, weaving the tale for their friend.

Whoever takes on the role of the hero won't be going alone either. As well as adventuring by themselves they will also meet companions along the way and wander with them as they seek to uncover treasures, slay monsters and meet the different peoples of this Historical/Fantasy world.

The artwork for the game is looking stunning and a lot of effort has gone into making the core rules and everything attached to this game look utterly astounding. A few more mechanics have been dropped into the mix as well to help with the storytelling elements. You'll have options for crafting new lords and their halls, companions, encounters on your travels and much more. You'll also find loads of ways to tweak the contents of the core D&D rules to make characters bespoke to this world.

Beowulf: Age Of Heroes - Miniatures

As well as wonderful artwork and mechanics, Beowulf: Age Of Heroes also comes with a few nice add-ons too like miniatures!

These characters, which could be used as heroes, companions, foes and NPCs are all crafted by Cold War Miniatures and give you another way to help create wonderful tales set against the backdrop of Beowulf.

Beowulf: Age Of Heroes - Free Introductory Adventure

If you're interested in checking out the game and learning more about it ahead of backing the campaign then you can read through The Hermit's Sanctuary. This is an introductory adventure which takes you through the ways you craft stories using this system.

This is an absolutely wonderful collection for an introductory adventure. It comes with some lavish books, art, maps and more. Honestly, I was blown away by exactly how much was in this download. Make sure to give this a go and tell us what you think.

The one thing they do say about diving into this is that it would be a good idea to at least have the three core books for D&D 5th Edition in order to play.

Are you tempted to take on adventures akin to Beowulf and his kin?
