The Relic Knights Gets Released Onto Soda Pop Miniatures
August 1, 2014 by dracs
They're finally here, Soda Pop Miniatures and Ninja Division's game of card based anime style combat is finally released. Prepare to join the battles of Relic Knights.
Players can now pick up everything they need to get started with Relic Knights, from the full colour hardback rule book to one of the starter battle boxes available for each of the six factions.
In each set you get all you need to get started collecting a Relic Knights cadre for your games. Here's the contents list from Soda Pop Miniatures.
- Enough Miniatures for a playable starter cadre.
- Unit Tracker and Reference Cards
- 32 Page, Full Color, Mini-Rulebook
- 54 Card Battle Deck
- 3x Colored Acrylic Objective Markers
- 28x Colored Acrylic Game Effect Tokens
- Foldout Game Dashboard
These box sets bring you a great set of miniatures, but even they are nothing compared to the Relic Knights themselves who have also been released.
Relic Knights features some absolutely fantastic sculpts, that show off the great, anime style that characterises the game. It is great to see that these have been released, and I hope we will soon hear what the game is like to play.
Which of the factions do you like best? Are you going to pick them up from Soda Pop?

Must say i dont like that battle box … the minis all look seriously off when compared to the cover art
Well we are at least 6 people here waiting for big box … Would love to see more gameplay videos.
Artistically, not my cup of tea.
I’m waiting on three factions from the KS
yep, still waiting on my KS. Seriously disappointed with these guys handling of delivery
… blame Cool Mini Or Not unfortunately 🙁
they were in charge of the kickstarter, and all production and delivery 🙁
… hopefully things will work out better now it’s back in the hands of Sodapop 🙂
You would be incorrect Cool Mini or Not dropped them as a publisher because SodaPop was making subpar product compared to what they originally promised.
… not what I was told, as far as I know, it just came down to cmon and sodapop being so far apart, and cmon focusing so much time working on zombicide and other projects, that it was hard to get things sorted for the rk kickstarter, when sodapop had to get everything approved through cmon first … … it’s not as dramatic as some people seem to think it is 😛 just a case of 2 pretty big companies simply needing to focus time better on their projects I guess, so they decided to part ways, happens all the… Read more »
@nohero
How reliable is your source for that? I’ve never previously heard that as the reason. I had assumed that SPM and CMoN didn’t need each other any more. KS and the hook-up with Cipher meant SPM could control their own product, and CMoN have many other irons on the fire now.
yep, exactly right 🙂
now both companies can focus on developing their franchises more freely 🙂
so it’s a win win for everyone 🙂
… and that’s what the original partnership was for anyway 😉 ha ha
for some independent companies to help each other to release games 🙂
now both companies have got larger, and this new Ninja Division partnership serves the same puporse 🙂
with more freedom to control projects for Sodapop, and Cypher Studios 🙂
and CMON have all their franchises too, which they can continue to expand 🙂
… it’s a good situation for everyone 😉
Why do I have the feeling that if I were to order everything on their webstore. That i’d get it all delivered well before my KS pledge turns up.
The whole thing’s been a farce from day one.
I only have two complaints. The dire communication and the decision to put the ltd eds on general release.
yeah, I think CMON should have finished this kickstarter first, before starting new ones,
… but then if they did that, then we wouldn’t have Wrath Of Kings and Rivet Wars 😛
… so swings and roundabouts as they say…
but it would be nice if every project got their full attention though …
This must be one of those ‘Reverse Kickstarters’. I pledge on the kickstarter and then get my stuff sometime after it hits the retail stores in Australia.
While a bit disappointed I did get a good saving over retail. I just hope my stuff arrives sooner rather than later.
Ummm… PASS on this lot
I am a big fan of anime and manga but don’t like most of Relic Knights, apart from the chicks on Mechs that were released long before the Kickstarter.
Really not a big fan. Guess this one will die a quite death.
I wish SPM had consulted with you first. If they’d known it wasn’t going to click with you they could have avoided the quite death.
Id be happy to be of sevice.
But no reason to be sad, there is quite a lot of dead games walking out there.
I myself am a fan of some of these, and by art of necromancy I sometimes summon them onto my gametable and convince or simply bribe friends into playing them with me.
not a fan
Waiting on my 6 factions, I’m not tired of the delays for delivery just the bitching and complaining about it, its all been done before.
That makes you kinda cool then
I’m not coo, I’m just more annoyed by all this whining and bitching. We all know its been ballsed up KS and who’s mainly at fault. But its a fun game, the minis are not any where near as bad as they have been made out. I want people to be excited about a game that is just a little bit different.
Hows that going for you? Seeing stuff appear in store before getting most of your pledge reward does however leave a sour taste in the mouth.. anyone who were in the warzone KS would know that all too well.
Kickstarter is intended to help a company launch a product by providing capital for development expenses. It is not intended to get you stuff on the cheap early. That may happen, but it is not the foundation of crowd funding. If you think differently, regardless of what is “promised” during the campaign, then you should sit on the sideline and just wait for the product to commercialize and than buy from an internet discounter. I’ve had my stuff since the end of June. Proud to help a new company get stared in a hobby I love. Then again I’m one… Read more »
I’m not at all bothered by it turning up in retail first. My mouth has a decidedly unsour taste in it. My two complaints have been outlined above.
Its just after a ton of “dog ate my homework” excuses it get tiresome
Still waiting (and excited) about my kickstarter coming but CMoN totally made a mess of it. I’m glad Sodapop dropped them.
I still wish I’d gone for Shattered Sword as well though!
I got my KS shipped to me last month (Canada). and today I finally started painting the minis. Just what to let other backers know initially you might feel disappointed with the scripts, its no GW and seems have less detail than the KS promotions. But after painting I find the models looks pretty good. Granted its not crystal brush material but for tabletop games its fairly good! (painted one shot with pinup mode).
I played it today at my local store, and I quite enjoyed it. So I picked up the Cerci Speed Circuit starter box.
