awesome
Good read. I think if you wished for more community involvement you would release high res pictures of Justin on bluescreen so we could all have a go! Could lead to some interesting last pagers… (or unprintable smut)
Maybe this is something we’ll have a go at – although I shudder to think of exactly what you’ll all come up with!
This is either the greatest or most terrible idea ever.
probably a little bit of both.
I’d say that is unfair to Justin.
Let’s get everyone of them involved.
Then again … it’s those unscripted moments in their own vids that might make for the best meme-worthy material 😀
I really like the strategy and tactics section, it’s really well done. Thinking of articles, could you collate an article series, for example Oriskany’s excellent battle tech series and give it the reroll touch? I would love to see that in a PDF all in one section, possibly even a themed reroll dedicated to one game system, as a ‘special’.
All in all, Reroll is a worthy addition to the BOW arsenal, may it long continue
We have really enjoyed pulling together Tactics Tome and hope that will build up into a great series.
Nice idea on the article repackaged, we’ll have a chat about that at the next meetup and see what’s involved 🙂
🙂
Loved the Tactics Tome? But no Horns of the Bull Buffalo tactic? An ommission surely?
I really like this idea – themed download ‘specials’. Very good idea
I totally agree…repackage some articles from the site for Reroll. And to be honest, I can’t find crap with the search window 🙂
Re-Poll…
I have to say that this months issue was a better read than the new issue 2 of White Dwarf.
lol nice, be sure to let us know what you liked/disliked when you get some time 🙂
Will do on both magazines lol
I liked John’s painting tutorial. It was very practical and well documented. For me the cherry on the cake is the rune wars exclusive. The style of the magazine is visual appealing and made me read articles that I normaly wouldn’t read.
Thanks again lads, my last months kept me entertained for a couple of weeks. cheers
This issue should keep you entertained a good bit longer again I hope 🙂 (it was just shy of 100 pages)
really impressed by reroll warren has someone who rarely uses backstage other than xlbs this has opened my eyes to what’s on offer hope this is something you manage to have the time to continue long term
For me personally, this issue gave me much more to read than the last one. I literally just flicked through the pages last time out, but I read several of the articles this time out. We get the terms strategy and tactics from the ancient Greeks. ‘Strat’ is a root word for things to do with the military. So a strategos is a general, a strategika is a military treatise, and a stratopedon is a military camp. Strategia is things to do with generalship, and from that we get strategy. Tactics is derived from the verb tatto, which means to… Read more »
I would agree with Redben here, I have to say this is a vast improvement from the first one here, mainly due to new content, and it is stuff that you can dig your teeth into a bit more. A lot of the internet content is set and forget look at once and then move on, however with this is stuff you are going to go back to.
Well done.
(have more to say but won’t still Redben’s spot)
Oooooh That’s good news for me! I haven’t real internet connection here, and I’ll be able to see some of my favorite show on the web!
Thanks BoW, ReRoll is excellent! You’ve making my day!
BoW – Can you help me claim my terrain download?
I attempted to download at work and for some reason I wasn’t able to.
(Kept attempting and said “FAILED” followed by “Try Again” each time.)
When I visited DriveThruRPG on my phone the download is no longer available in my library.
🙁
Can you try it at home? If that dosn’t work, lets us know.
I liked the free stuff. The interview with leonidas was very good, no interest in game whatsoever but very interesting learning how it all came together etc. Lastly I am a big fan of the captions from user comments. The tactics bit was good but could use some stills from BoW batreps/demo games/bootcamp battles to illustrate/brighten it up. 8/10 😉
I had the chance to play Mythic Battles during the week and was very taken with it. Much more so than I thought I would be. It jumped from ‘keep an eye out for it’ to ‘need to find the money to back it’.
@igotskills – see what @redben said above, this is so true.
“The tactics bit was good but could use some stills from BoW batreps/demo games/bootcamp battles to illustrate/brighten it up.”
@igotskills – We went with illustrations so it wouldn’t feel tied to any particular game system and we feel it works.
I even found myself thinking about X-Wing while going through it. I’d done something similar in a game I’d played 🙂
The illustrations are good because they are clear and fit for purpose I mean just as extra small photos (various systems) just for added eye candy. This is mostly because the thing that sticks out most to me from the magazine is that it was a joy to see such high res photos of such great looking minis, more of that can only be a good thing.
@redben @lloyd
Don’t get me wrong it looks great but the “I have no interest whatsover” is more a stance I force upon myself as I am fed up with the amount of games available. This leads me to constantly buying new games then selling them before playing them in order to afford a newer game/kickstarter and free up some of my limited space for these new minis. It’s a cycle that I have successfully broken by writing off anything new as “looks great but not my cup of tea”.
hey @igotskills, I know exactly what you’re talking about 🙂
Haven’t had a chance to go through in detail yet, but looks mighty fine. Love the free downloads, great idea.
Great stuff! I never expected another so quick! Thank guys and keep up the amazing work!
What happened to the second half of the Empire of the Dead basing/painting?? Great issue, read lots and lots more to read, but was searching for that bit!:)
Cool another one , i really like it ….. Good Job Guy’s 🙂
A very impressive ezine. A lot of hard work has gone into making it a great read.
I cannot download the file. It does give me the counter, but the page I am transferred to, does not load.
OK, I sorted it. I needed to take down the VPN and other privacy measures on my PC. Not that I think you are the data kraken, but why do you need to track me for the download?
Thanks guys, i will check it out in the next few days and come back with some comments.
Alright first off guys thank you very much for this issue not with standing that I got a half page spread 😛 no it’s not that made me really like this one but it did help ha ha 😉 Onto the more serious comments. First off the downloads. The downloads were a welcome surprise and I have to commend you on what and whom you chose to partner up with. I have done there paper craft stuff before it is actually pretty difficult to use or at least it has been for me, but it has a high quality. Having… Read more »
I like the new content in re-roll that is not on the site. This gives it that bit more compared to the last issue.
And I will definitely keep my eye out for Mythic Battles Pantheon. Beautiful minis.
I really enjoyed this – a step up from the first one (which was still nice). It looks beautiful. Adding in the few meatier articles to this issue really takes it up to the next level compared to last month and I enjoyed reading them. I like the personal touches, with suggestions about what figures could be used for and comments from the team and forum members. Warren’s article about modifying that photo for his family gaming was very original and interesting – I play “daddy games” with my five and three year olds, using stuff like dungeon saga and… Read more »
Great job guys
Don’t tend to read forums so the points to really interesting posts is my highlight
Great read,
Well done
Some might not have the time to see all you guys have put up – I’m maybe seeing 70% – but that’s all the main stories. I’m maybe not the one to comment, but in this fast paste world, if I can get my news and information from a video, that’s the way I’m going first. BoW is online videos to me, its my gaming TV channel for table top games. And for that reason I won’t be downloading a magazine. I’m sure I’ll be in the minority, and I’m sure, as always, it will top shelf (in quality not… Read more »
paced* lol
Why not download this one, have a flick through and see if its different from what you expected or gives you ideas for other things we should do instead 🙂
That way we can test your opinion a little (because your particular opinion is interesting on this) 🙂
Out of interest, why are you going to stop Reroll 1 being available? If you’re not charging for it, what’s the harm in building up a library of magazines that people can download if / when they discover BoW?
I’ve been impressed with the quality of the photos throughout the 2 issues, but this second paint tutorial by John gave me pause. I would expect Roman (not sure of the spelling) to add a splash of color, but hyper-realistic, weather everything Tank-boy choosing to finish off the Deadzone commander with the bright red, “shoot-me” cape went, I thought, against character. I guess he was flashing back to the redcoat days? I do plan to use the scheme up to that point but some color a bit more muted for his cloak.
My im for the Re-roll schemes is to focus on simple, quick and effective schemes. Maybe i’ll set down the Dragon Red for the next one 😛
