New Icariates Ablazers Soar Into Raging Heroes’ Sci-Fi Range
April 7, 2021 by brennon
Raging Heroes has dipped back into their collection to update another unit for use in your Sci-Fi armies. The Icariates Ablazers have been given a glow-up and are soaring back to the battlefield with more detailed miniatures and bigger wings. You know what they say about soldiers with big wings...
Icariates Ablazers Command Group // Raging Heroes
Leading the way is the Icariates Ablazers Command Group which comes with some utterly angelic-looking soldiers who are ready to bring the fury of their faith to the battlefield. This set would be great for those who want to create a flying command option for their armies. You get loads of submachine pistols, fusion pistols, flamers and the Captain who comes with a plasma gun and chainsword.
This does bring me to what's different with these new models. Well, the comparison image below gives you an idea of what has been tweaked!

The new scale bumps them up to around the 32mm size, bringing them in line with the miniatures for Warhammer 40,000. In addition to the bulk and heft, you've also got lots of additional detail worked into their arms and armour and the wings have been reimagined. You can certainly see just how much bigger these miniatures are and what impact they'll have on the tabletop.
If you want to rock a full Sci-Fi army of flying Sisters Of Eternal Mercy then you can also pick up the updated Icariates Ablazers Troop pack as well.

I really like the helmet designs that we've got in this set. The beaked helmet brings in that Medieval Fantasy element that I love about the grimdark future. Imagine these painted up in blood-red armour accented by white and gold.
You can also explore the larger range from Raging Heroes and perhaps pick up the new miniatures as a bundle.

Snap up the new Command and Troop options from Raging Heroes and get started on some high-flying units which would be a good basis for an alternative Sisters Of Battle army. If you like the style of these miniatures then you can also explore more of their range on their webstore HERE.
What do you make of the updated Icariates Ablazers?

Something Raging Heroes does well, IMHO, is make attractive tasteful female models… a much better solution than making all your Sisters dumpy looking, like that ‘other guy’ did when caving to PC pressure.
These look like they would be fun to paint, although I’m not one to just paint something that isn’t related to the games I play. Still, tempting.
Oh those are great looking but crying about “PC” is just pathetic and pointless waste of time.
I can’t fault him too much when the newer Sororitas releases are pretty unpleasant to look at, like the “Samuel L. Jackson in a dress” canoness, or the really butch Repentia. But at least the plethora of minis available means people can have what they want for their army, whether it’s the official GW releases that really miss the mark, or Raging Heroes take that shows women can look good while still being badasses.
I for my part am always surprised when female warriors (warrioresses?) have to walk into battle wearing high heels…. Parhaps that’s why they have wings? Otherwise they might snap an ankle stumbling over a skull and crack their ribcage upon falling down because of boob shaped armour…
Oh look, the “high heels and boob armor waaaah” argument again. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: F A N T A S Y. As in “not real.” As in “real life rules don’t apply.” You can’t say a setting is okay because it has things like orcs, dragons, elves, magic, aliens, hyper-advanced robots, or laser weapons but whinge about women having “impractical armor.” If you don’t like it, that’s okay, but don’t try to ruin it for those who do like it.
You seem very angry about this. If someone disliking the minis you like is ruining it for you, maybe you’re taking toy soldiers a little too seriously.
If you’re entitled to like boob armour and combat heels, then others are entitled to like model soldiers that look like they’re dressed for combat.
Sorry, rough day…
Been there myself, many times
Wow, I didn’t mean to offend you. But I do wonder how my having a different opinion from your own would “ruin it for those who do like it”.
Perhaps I should have started with: “woah, awesome minis!” Because they are; beautiful and characterful minis. Would I field them? No.
I like the more practical looking minis (note how I don’t use the word realistic).
Edit: and then I saw your comment about having a rough day. Sorry to hear that and I hope today is a better day for you. I myself am not having the best of times :/
If you don’t know PC culture exists, you don’t know enough about life to have a comment, certainly not a derogatory one. Though as usual, he who knows least, speaks most.
Ooh they look stunning looking figures.
Those look absolutely stunning.
