Vesper-On’s Home Raiders Have Snuck Out Onto the Shelves
December 4, 2015 by dracs
This year, Vesper-On ran a very successful Kickstarter for their new game Home Raiders, designed to be the perfect gateway game into the hobby. Now all the pledges have been sent out and the game has at last landed on their webstore.
Home Raiders is a small skirmish game that takes place in 1:1 scale over our tables and living rooms. The idea is that the various factions have invaded our homes and are now fighting to control them, allowing for the ingenious idea that anything can be terrain as they move through all the clutter you leave lying around.
The starter box is the first thing to have been released, bringing with it two rival factions and all the paraphernalia you need for a game.
Hopefully we should be seeing the rest of the factions and miniatures appearing soon.
Home Raiders is a very fun game and a great place to introduce friends and family to tabletop gaming as a whole. We all enjoyed it a lot when it was brought to the studio and it is good to see it get its release.
Think you will join Vesper-On's Home Raider invasion?

I backed the Kickstarter, and am very pleased with the game. The miniatures are quite large, much larger than I expected, and the game has simple rules that play well. Great game to play with the kids, or just for fun with the guys.
Xmas money will be heading that way, if I can persuade someone to play it with me!
Glad to see it’s out. I will be waiting for it to appear at my FLGS.
Got my kickstarter. I’m pretty pleased. Couple of things I hadn’t appreciated. The first is that the mosels are 40mm to the eyes, and not hugely detailed. Although they are characterful. Their CAD origin is clear. Second thing is that gameplay is fairly abstract – lots of tokens and symbols to get your head around. Even though the book is pretty slim, not the simplest of rules to understand. Having taken a chance on the kickstarter, I’m still 50:50. But then I’m not a great fan of abstract rules systems and was a bit disappointed at the lack of detail… Read more »
I haven’t had a chance to sit down to the rules yet but I was pretty happy with the minis. They’re definitely simple but to my eyes that’s style rather than a lack of detail.
I backed game and in total I am happy but In my opinion quality of cast is not that great and some parts are really thin and bend or break way too easy specially for game designed to play with kids, this time they really shoudl go for restic (?) in different colours for different factions and keep price much lower.
I backed as well.
Overall I’m pretty satisfied, rules are straightforward and fun; but I’ll agree with radegast6 that the quality of casting could be way better. I have several miniatures with obscured and/or missing detail and one of the Lillyput Guardsmen was missing a foot.
Well, I got 3 of my Lillputians painted up, and I have to agree with radegast6: the metal isn’t very robust. Even though the models areca larger scale, ankles and spear shafts break easily (have had one of each) Normally I’m not particularly cack handed, but these models are vulnerable. Also basing is a chore. I had thought the clear plastic bases would be great, but the metal pegs on the models are too large for the holes in the bases, so require a lot of filing down. Having done 3, the rest will have their pegs clipped off and… Read more »
Looks tempting.
I’d agree with a lot of what’s been written above. The game is aimed at kids and the style of the miniatures reflects this. I like them and having been painting Infinity miniatures these appeal as something a bit simpler. I got the Lords of Dust along with gremlins and lilliput. A couple of the later lilliput models – the biker and sergeant kirklan – look like their sculpts were a bit rushed to me. Otherwise I’m pleased with the quality of the sculpts. I do agree that some of the longer components bend a little too easily and that’s… Read more »
