Thomas The Tank Engine Takes On The Post-Apocalypse
August 25, 2016 by dracs
Japanese sculptor Y_Nakajima has taken the beloved character of Thomas the Tank Engine and thought "What if he ended up in the post-apocalypse?" The result is this incredibly creepy creation.
According to the website grapee.jp, this model was created my mixing together a Thomas the Tank Engine and a Combat Creatures miniature.
Y_Nakajima even came up with a bit of backstory for the figure:
"Sir Topham Hatt lost everything he had, and giving into despair and madness manipulated the AI-equipped body of Thomas the Tank Engine into a ravenous death machine."
Perhaps the coolest thing here though is the fact that Thomas has been given a working laser, capable of popping balloons and lighting matches.
There is something undeniably disturbing about seeing Thomas' head mounted on a machine of destruction. That calm, friendly smile looks almost manic by this point.
What do you think of Y_Nakajima's re-imagining? Are there any other childhood classics that you think belong in the post-apocalypse?
"Madness manipulated the AI-equipped body of Thomas the Tank Engine into a ravenous death machine..."

That is just as creepy as it is brilliant
Saw that the other day, should of put a link to the youtube vid.
Dave, you sharing it is how I found out about it.
@deaddave the video’s been added now 😉
That’s better, scary little bastard thing. Kinda reminds me of that creepy dolls head thing in toy story lol.
Amazing, better than the one I grew up with lol
hears Tommie?
Zebedee could be a mass killer impaling people on his spring?
From now on every time my children watch Thomas, I will see this instead.
well its less of a desecration of my childhood than the american cg version… 🙂
found a belting metal cover of the theme tune the other day:

It needs just a drop of Blood technical paint right on the cheek!
Sorry, other than slapping Thomas’ face on some kit, I see nothing of Thomas the Tank Engine and/or his cronies. Lloyd could photoshop Warren’s on an ice cream truck (nice job with that orangutan, though), John’s on a Sherman tank or Justin’s on a mammoth and get the same or better effect. What was creepy was given how small that island was on a map and how many train engines were required to work it. Creepier still was Justin’s wincing mug for the Spartacus game.

and I found this when looking for the above 🙂

I was going to buy/build a green laser for X-Wing until I discovered they could pop balloons and melt holes in soft plastic (black bin-liners) 😮
Well that’s interesting take on both beloved children’s character and post-apocalyptic walker.
you got to love the Japanese.
got a look of the marshmallow man from ghostbusters.
that guy needs to record ringo saying Thomas wasn’t happy with the fat controller so he burnt his eyes out with a death ray and went on a killing rampage.
Not Thomas .Is nothing sacred ? Just leave Noddy and Tessie Bear alone
Shame it wasn’t red lasers from the eyes…
Even with spider legs, i bet Thomas gets himself into loads of trouble by being cocky and not listening to conductors and engineers.
Love it! What is it with the strange obsession gamers got with Thomas? There are alot of mods for games like skyrim and fallout with Thomas in it.
I may stop screaming sometime soon.
Nope
That was awesome.
I’ll never look at that trains face as so innocent now that I seen this! It’s down right spooky!
Alas…..poor Thomas has succumbed to Chaos and has been corrupted into a twisted death machine to fight at the whims of the evil Lords of the warp.
I would love to see this fielded in a Game of 40K with a force of Chaos Space Marines!
At least he doesn’t stutter at inappropriate moments…
