Who Is Truly The Monster In Plaid Hat’s Abomination?
April 6, 2019 by dracs
Plaid Hat are taking a gothic turn with their upcoming strategy board game as they challenge you to make a monster in Abomination: The Heir of Frankenstein.
The year is 1819, and a sinister darkness has descended upon the city of Paris. A mysterious benefactor, one with off-putting coloration and an array of ghastly scars, has created a competition to determine which studious soul can unlock the secrets of Frankenstein’s research.
And so the scene is set for a gruesome, gothic game in which you must compete in order to see who will unlock the mysteries of life first.
This is no easy task. You must keep up with the latest scientific research, ensure your work is fully funded, and do whatever it takes to gain the... materials your work is built upon.
Plaid Hat, for me, have been knocking it out of the park lately with their games. Here's one that looks like it was tailored for me and my love of gothic horror. The idea of competing with other players in conducting Frankenstein's grizzly work is a very fun prospect, certainly more fun than reading the book was!
(I mean, yeah I know we pretty much owe all of scifi to it, but that book was a slog!)
Abomination is currently up for pre-order from Plaid Hat Games.
Let's hear your best mad scientist laugh!!!!!

“…do whatever it takes to gain the… materials your work is built upon.”
Does that mean we can off our opponents and use them as materials for our experiments?

Never read the book – take it you didn’t like it @dracs ?
It’s a great book with fantastic characters, it’s just a writing style that’s probably less palatable to modern readers. At least, I found it so. Still, I’m very glad to have read it.
This will be well worth a look. Everything I’ve played from Plaid Hat has been top notch.
A interesting sounding game.
