Priming is always a great milestone in a project. The model has been printed, test fitted, prepped and fixed and now it's time to add the first layers of paint.

The tower splits very nicely into three distinct sections. The lower half is mostly stonework, so we went for an Army Painter Uniform Grey primer. The upper part is a mixture of a wattled wall and woodwork, so for this Army Painter Skeleton Bone was chosen as a good base for adding colour to both the wall material and the woodwork. The roof is mostly slates so we decided to make the roof a traditional red slate style with Army Painter Chaotic Red, and the door for the ground floor entrance was sprayed in Army Painter Leather Brown.

Putting the tower back together shows, more clearly, the logic of colour choice. This will make each section easier to tackle as we paint it, with a more fitting primer for each.
