About the Project
This project started out as me building some terrain for use at home to get my wife and daughter into gaming, now its become a bit of a monster part one (the village of Nutting Hill) went to Salute '19 and because people liked it, it has spawned part 2 "The Mansion of Marneous Blackwick!" Im hoping that I will again be able to take this to Salute for 2020.

Burn baby burn!
A bit of a how-to on how I go about making fires and flames
Measure twice, cut, cut and cut again...
… erm nope that cant be right…
With the blooding of the young’un healed over, work starts on the 1st floor.
I drew the floor plan out on the cardboard then took the measurements and transferred these to the insulation foam, it made the cutting and positioning way easier (and as a bonus its almost symetrical.. almost)
Soldado 2.0 - Soldadina (heck knows if thats right, spanish speakers dont kill me...)
My daughter wanted to help me build stuff for the mansion. Now handing a scalpel to an 8 year old is scary as hell, not only because she could hurt herself but because she’s clumsy enough to kill me at the same time.., but thankfully with no blood spilled (got to be a first for me as well) at this point she’s built a fireplace…
Idea stolen from @oathsworn awesome build thread found here:- https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1426624/
Progress? whats that then...
Well its been a while since I managed to do any work on the mansion, between work and holidays. But I managed to sit down today and get some done.
The last bits to do for this section are doing all the corner stones and filling in any gaps. Once I’ve sorted the next floors layout I can figure out where the small stairs will go.
And today children, we'll be looking through the Rectangular window...
I currently looking for more suggestions on where to find furniture and gubbins to fill the house
so far I’ve got on my list: Mantic and 4Ground, Bad Squiddo, Iron Gate scenery, Charlie foxtrot models but where else?
Pick a door! any door! as long as its that one...
EDIT
After messing with them, the staple part of the hinges pulled straight out of the wall, not great really. After a cup of coffee a solution presented itself in the age old method of not trying to be to clever and just use a large paper clip driven straight down from top to bottom.
Gloop!, Sproing! Ooooooh, look at that!
not a lot today just some items that will end up decorating the various rooms of the wizards mansion
What door? Ohhhh that door!
Hopefully this works..
I messed about with creating a secret door beneath the stairs, it holds shut via magnets and I may need to work out a better way of closing it than trying to poke my fat fingers in there…
getting twisty with it
So after prevaricating for a couple of weeks, here’s the start of the proper staircase.
so it begins.... again!
Spent some time this evening mocking up a spiral stair case, should be simple but it makes my poor tiny brain hurt 🙁
Getting the right amount of rise based on the material thickness is weirdly tricky (for me anyway, im sure theres someone out there that will say “yeah, you just do it like this…”)
The cardboard im using here is the same thickness as the pink foam I’ll be using to create the proper staircase so gives me a good idea how to proceed
So, thoughts so far?
erm....
I’ve had an idea…
It involves Mantics Wizards study and Library terrain crate bits and of course Cardboard, coffee stirrers, glue, CDs, Pink foam, more cardboard and looks of a certain disapproving type from the wife…..
Now lets see if I can get it from an idea floating in my head onto the table…
Oh blimey am I tired...
Cor blimey but its been a long weekend, Im not sure if it got any attention anywhere but there was a small provincial show onn 06/04/19, there was barely anyone coming through the door and very few traders… Wait, that was the nightmare on friday night… 😀
So Salute has been and gone for another 12 months, its taken till now, the following monday for my voice to recover, between the running of games and talking to everyone who came along and said hello, I must have used up 6 months worth of talking credits.
So if you stopped by the table and said hello, thankyou so much and if you said nice things thank you again.
If I missed you during my infrequent attempts to try and get to stalls to actually buy something then Im sorry I missed you @brennon that includes you!
onto the pictures, I didnt get many as I tended to be chatting too much, some were taken by a good friend, so if its in focus and looks good its one of his 😀
All in all, I had a blast. It was great to meet lots of new people and share what I think is a great game with them. Everyone who played seemed to really enjoy it and I hope that all who saw the table liked what I’d done.
So onto planning for next year……
Allo Allo Allo!
Whats all this then?
So the Watch house/ Armoury is complete, at last, this one seems to have taken an age….
so whatcha think?
Whats in a name?
I tried, I really did but lets face it, my freehand will never be good enough to do sign writing (heck my hand writing is like a drunken spider wandered through and inkwell and onto the page!)
So I did what I should have done first off, found something on the web and printed it out…
Somebodies watchin me!
The build of the Watch house/ Armoury is complete, just need to base it.
Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'!
The cart is done, not in the way I’d like but my freehand sucks so hard I had to redo the whole thing <sad face>
Time to play some practice games…..
Will you be stopping by at salute? Im at the far end of the hall from the main entrance by Hasslefree’s stall on table GM16 which Im sharing with a friend and his game Carnage city chronicles.
The final piece..
A little chunky parcel was waiting for me when I got home tonight, the wonderful people at Oathsworn have sent me the Stoatbart and sons set to use as the objective for The Nutting hill job.
3 Stoats, 3 cargo pieces and the Cart itself from Sarissa
Time to get painting….
