The Fall of Arnor

About the Project
I started this army last year but never got beyond base coating the Cavalry. Spring Clean is the perfect time to finish this off. It's primarily planned for War of the Ring but will also work for MESBG.

Hobbits Finished
Sorry about the lack of updates and not doing this in my normal step by step style, time has been pretty scarce lately. I managed to get all the Knights and Hobbits finished which is a great start, I’ll come back to the Warriors once I’ve gone on to something else for a while to not get burnt out. No spoilers but be on your -mid- guard for a project that will be Unbowed, Unbent and Unbroken.
There we go, three bases (24) Hobbit Archers painted and based for an Arnor Army for both War of the Ring and MESBG. Thanks for following along, the Project will continue in the future but stay tunes for the next project. Something about singing to snow and flames or something like that.
The Hobbits Part Two
The Hobbits
A band of Hobbits went to their King to fight beside him during the last days of Arnor. One of the things I really like about the Shire in Tolkien’s world is that it’s basically on autopilot waiting for a new King and always sees itself as part of Arnor or Arthedain even as it just chugs along. When Pippin returns at the end of the story he comes basically as Aragorn’s Herald.
“he snapped his fingers in Frodo’s face – ‘King’s messengers! That for them! When I see one, I’ll take notice, perhaps.’ This was too much for Pippin. His thoughts went back to the Field of Cormallen, and here was a squint-eyed rascal calling the Ring-bearer ‘little cock-a-whoop’. He cast back his cloak, flashed out his sword, and the silver and sable of Gondor gleamed on him as he rode forward. ‘I am a messenger of the King,’ he said. ‘You are speaking to the King’s friend, and one of the most renowned in all the lands of the West. You are a ruffian and a fool. Down on your knees in the road and ask pardon, or I will set this troll’s bane in you!'”
I’ve always liked this story of some Hobbits going to their King’s aid and when I saw the Medbury semi armoured Halflings I had to print three companies (24 minis) for an Arnor Army.
I like the idea of the Hobbits turning up in normal clothes to fight and being given some modified helmets and Gambesons the same way Theoden and Denethor armour Merry and Pippin in the books. It's both a sign of respect and appreciation of their coming and helps unite the Hobbits with the rest of the army.Knights Almost Finished
I went back and forth but I want to do all the horses in a pale beige. It will pair them with the Angmar Army I plan to do sometime down the road. The Project Begins
All the figures in this list are 3D Prints from Medbury Miniatures. I’ve always loved these old Sourcebooks for LOTR SBG and Arnor was one of the first ones I ever read. The falling Kingdom on it’s last legs, the cool spooky enemies and the whole idea of rangers have always really appealed to me.
The project is a 2000 Point War of the Ring Army, hopefully I can get it all done in time but who knows.
The Project. 24 Knights of Arnor, 64 Arnor Veterans, 24 Hobbit Archers, 96 Warriors of Arnor. Plus Command and Characters all from Medbury, printed on my Anycubic Photon Mono 4K.
