About the Project
Having discovered Hydra miniatures while looking for alternative models for my Star Schlock game, I stumbled upon their line of spaceships and associated rule, 'War Rockets'. I felt it was a proper complement to my range of retro scifi minis, as well as an opportunity to test the models using these rules and Willey's Starfighters.

Pirates - Part 1
Following the Galacteers, I could not resist focusing upon the Pirates faction, a new faction to the game, which looks and backstory attracted me. The additional rules are available from the Hydra Miniatures site as a download.
Please pay attention to properly gluing the tail of the class II as it tends to dip downward (se odd Sting squadron model) if not supported during the time the glue sets.
I decided to paint one of the renown pirate squadrons presented in the rules and added the Stinger squadron, which look interested me (and I also like to paint yellow).
Galacteers - Part 1
I decided to start with the Galacteers (AKA, good guys) and purchased a force bundle, which, in retrospect, was not the best idea as the reading of the rulebook pointed to a different model count to achieve a cohesive force.
The quality of the sculpt and cast is excellent and very little work was needed for flash. All miniatures are painted with a mix of contract and regular acrylics from GW and Vallejo. There is minimum highlighting and those retro scifi rockets are a blast to paint (see what I did there! ;)).
I suggest adding a white (or lighter color) reflection for cockpits. Also, for the sake of identifying customized ships, I painted numbers by hand on the ships bases.
Followed were two identical squadrons that I will probably customize after a few base games. I gave them unique colors so as identify them more easily on the table.
