About the Project

Empire of the Dead is one of those games I've always liked the look of but never gave it a chance. So I picked up the rules and a couple of factions. I just need some scenery

These two buildings I think don't suite Victoriana as much. I might save these for 20s pulp games. I think the doors are too modern compared to my other buildings and will clash with my 3D prints. The pub from timeline miniatures was originally used in my 1916 Easter Rising game. I've painted the facade white so it stands out more. The pub from timeline miniatures was originally used in my 1916 Easter Rising game. I've painted the facade white so it stands out more.

Before I started 3D printing I got out my current collection to see what I could put together. There are a number of different environments to play games on. One is residential so I made a little grave yard to add a bit of green to the cobbled mat. Before I started 3D printing I got out my current collection to see what I could put together. For an industrial zone I thought about dock lands. I have some coastal tiles that I've covered with some boarding to create docks. For an industrial zone I thought about dock lands. I have some coastal tiles that I've covered with some boarding to create docks.

I felt something was missing and it's pavement. I have some home made dungeon tiles that I think work OK as a bade for my building to sit on. After watching the channel at the weekend I was introduced to Hartolia. Now I have an fdm printer I found a great victorian looking set of buildings. I had to scale it up slightly to fit my models. After watching the channel at the weekend I was introduced to Hartolia. Now I have an fdm printer I found a great victorian looking set of buildings. I loved painting these brick walls. Much better than mdf for the texture. Lots of leather brown and orange with buff sandstone and the odd grey brick and green wash. I have a lot of these to print I think.I loved painting these brick walls. Much better than mdf for the texture. I've had this sarissa warehouse for some time and has been used in many different games. This was a good excuse to repaint it slightly and give it a fresh look.I've had this sarissa warehouse for some time and has been used in many different games. Watson fothergill operated as an architect in late Victorian Nottingham and is responsible for some of the cities most impressive buildings. Its an interesting combination of red brick sand stone and dark wood. If I ever do Frostgrave I’d probably paint my fantasy city up in similar colours. For my Victorian project it made sense to go with this look which is so striking in the local area. So my buildings will follow this colour palette.

Empire of the dead is a steampunk skirmish game that leans towards the gothic horror side of victoriana. I've done victorian science fiction on mars but I fancied a bit of a pea supper gothic game. I got the rules and two factions. The first I painted was the Bedlam brotherhood. An odd mix of characters who may have broken free from the famous asylum.Empire of the dead is a steampunk skirmish game that leans towards the gothic horror side of victoriana. I painted these up in an afternoon. I never spend too long painting minis. As long as they are table ready I'm happy I painted these up in an afternoon. I never spend too long painting minis. As long as they are table ready I'm happy
