About the Project

The challenge is to paint as much as possible through February. At a bare minimum I need to complete 10 Traders Galaxy miniatures, fully based and painted. While some will go for large numbers, like army painting, I prefer each miniature to tell a story, so although my painting skills aren't great I'll be using my imagination to try and base up the miniatures as unique as possible. I am going to try and do at least one miniature from each of Traders Galaxy's games, namely Botwar, Rise of the Democracy, Beat Em Up and Broken Skies. And if I get time I may even try out my first diarama. February is going to be a busy month!

Sorry to all those people that thought it was over. ?
So I wasn’t going to lie down and go out with a whimper, instead I cranked up the Ghetto Blaster with Survivor – Eye of the tiger and once again pumped some paint and generally got glue everywhere!
Swordana Ascendant was first. As I previously said I had altered the stance because I was always seeing a She-ra transformation, so I printed off a whilrwind to go round her lower half, then a made a kind of flaming spiral around the sword and then stuck some lightning at the top and bottom. I did have a 3D printed Grayskull entrance printed out, but alas, sometimes my ideas are bigger than the base! ?

Next up, I annoyingly found the Mongoose base, so I couldn’t use that excuse anymore, so I hurriedly made up the base with some standard scatter and a shot to the side of the vehicle.

After that it was back to Boston Jones. I started on him early on in February, but I wasn’t really happy with the print that I’d made, so gave up on him. But then 3 days ago he stared at me with those puppy eyes from the painting table and I thought I can do this. So yet another last minute change of plan. I managed to get him painted up to look a little more respectable. I added in to his empty fist a sword, because it was obvious what his base should be. So I made a rope bridge from cut up lollipop sticks and some garden twine. Then last night I got some Green Stuff and moulded a couple of cliff edges. painted a tiny river in the middle and if you really squint you might even see the 2 crocodiles.

The 1 Destroyer tank not destined for my diorama got a real simple base, but I took a picture with his brother that I did for my first Democracy force, last year.
I’ll get some group shots tomorrow and then I think I’ll enjoy a cold beer in a warm house for a change. ? Thanks for all the support and goodnight! If you want to see more of this kind of stuff, check out my Youtube channel www.youtube.com/@TheGamesMister22 or head over to the Botwar Facebook group where I post regularly.

I spent my lunchtime tinkering rather than eating. And I think I have my diorama as complete as I can get it. Lesson learned… don’t do a diorama in a painting challenge. I’ll talk though the diorama a little later but for now just take a look.
So what is the diorama about? Cue story mode….

“Stop me, little girl? You and who’s army?”

It has been dark times for the Democracy. It took only weeks for the Atlanticans to surge forth from the depths and overrun almost all resistance. Morale within The Democracy is at its lowest.
There have been mutterings amongst the people of The Democracy as to whether the Atlanticans have supernatural powers and truly are masters of the oceans. Rumours circulate that they are able to control sea creatures and some even say that they can control the ocean itself. If that were to be true, how can The Democracy possibly fight that?
Not all people think that way, many know that the Atlanticans are flesh and blood. They know that if the Atlanticans can bleed, they can be killed! Throughout The Democracy there have been people who have resisted, holding on to a tiny scrap of freedom.
The Eagle has been gathering his ‘Merry Men’ just like Robin Hood in the tales of old. Calling on people scattered across the war-torn Democracy to stand up and fight. Many have answered the call and have already been fighting as pockets of resistance. But now it is time for the resistance to join and become a rebellion. This rebellion is not a toothless beast it comes with many sharpened instruments of destruction, and most importantly, it has hope. Hope that truth, justice and freedom will win the day.
For the Rebellion’s first action against the Antlantican oppressor, they decided to go big and make a bold statement. A plot was hatched to lure the mighty Leviathon, avatar of the Atlantican’s elemental god.
The Eagle himself wished to be the bait for this dangerous trap, but he was deemed too important to The Democracy, so he stands close by, ready to co-ordinate and inspire his apprehensive troops.
It was Scarlet Rosen, “Red” to those who know her, who stepped forward to bravely challenge Leviathon. Now, on this stormy night, her steel will is pitched against Leviathon’s punishing might.
The seemingly one-sided duel makes Leviathon overly confident, he forgets the ancient proverbs that he himself used to teach many moons ago, “Even a single grain of sand can topple the highest cliffs”.
Red stands alone, staring down Leviathon, like a wolf with its prey. But she is not alone, for one of humanity’s greatest powers is found in teamwork. Together we can achieve the impossible.
Red raises her pistol and aims at the imposing form of Leviathon. Lightning forks across the sky and with an idle flick of his trident, Leviathon dissipates the immense energy bolt into his ancient weapon. The giant green crystal on the tip of the trident glows for a brief second, then darkens. She squeezes the trigger of her pistol lightly and a small red targeting laser creates a red dot in the middle of Leviathon’s heavily armoured breastplate. Red knows her 9mm projectile won’t even scratch where she is aiming, but she doesn’t care. Red knows that the targeting laser is no ordinary device, it is part of the latest tech from a friend with contacts in Starr Enterprises.
The laser designator works over LoRa, so can communicate up to 100km even when all satellite and terrestrial communication networks are down. No storm or invading force will stop this device. A handful of Democracy vehicles have been fitted with similar units. Those units include the 2 Destroyers sat patiently in amongst the ruins, just meters behind the castle wall, their coils humming with primed energy ready to be unleashed. A Defiance loaded with the latest Armour Piercing, Fin Stabilised, Discarding Sabot, Fusion round sits camouflaged amongst the trees. The trees around it have been hastily tethered down to hide the hulk of a tank. Some 20km away, a pair of Hatchets hover close to the ground ready to pop-up and unleash their 64 AGM-214 Stellarfire, AI guided missiles. Even further back at 60km, a lone Strikeforce, piloted by Jace McStorm, circles impatiently, flying at his maximum operating ceiling, with a full loadout.
Yes, Red knows that when you fight for the Democracy, you are never alone.
‘One shall stand, one shall fall’. Who is your money on?
I personally… always bet on Red!
….And in addition to the main story, a couple of side stories to satisfy my own craziness!
Side story 1
In this reality, Jaws 4 The Revenge was a huge hit and as a result they went on to film Jaws 5. The ending to the film involved a Buzzard flying through the air and strafing the shark. In what is thought to be the precursor to The Fast And The Furious movies, the shark then jumps out of the water, somersaults over the Buzzard and snatches the pilot out of the plane. Only then, as the shark bites down on the unfortunate pilot does he realise that the pilot is still attached to his ejection seat which promptly ignites, launching the shark several hundred metres into the air before it falls impaling itself on a particularly sharp rock. Come on, it’s still a better ending than Jaws 4!
Side story 2
With the success of National Lampoons European Vacation, a sequel was hastily written. It was during the filming of this, National Lampoons Seaside Vacation that the Griswalds met their untimely end. No-one really knows what happened, but legend has it that as they drove the Family Truckster along the coast road, where they were snatched by a mysterious sea monster. No wreckage was found, and some say that even now on a cold wintery evening, if you look out to sea, you’ll see a Family Truckster cruising the waves! Of course many also say that the cast realised that the film was going to be a steaming pile of horse manure and so to escape out of their contract, they faked their own deaths! You decide…

The penultimate day and we are still steaming ahead… there’ll be no wind down for me.
More 10mm infantry to go on the diorama. This time I’ve got some more grunts but also from left to right Flint, Duke, red SnakeEyes, Doc, Roadblock, Mainframe, Lowlight (with his big gun!), Stalker and Laser. Whew!
Boston Jones as I am now calling him got a sword and I started on his base, I think I can get him finished tomorrow.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 28
Swordana is close as all her effects are ready, just need to try to fit it all together and hope.
My last Destroyer got a laser beam and will be based as this one is not bound for the diorama.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 28

And finally Dactylous got a little more paint, but I doubt he will be finished by tomorrow.

Messy time! I had to poor the epoxy resin for my ocean today, so things got a little sticky.
More infantry reinforcements are needed so another bunch got primed and I should be able to finish them before month end.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 27
Swordana and some of the effects got more paint. Swordana got some metallics and some colourshift to make the white shimmer.
I kind of gave up on my Adventurer early on in February, but I’m going to try and finish him if I can as I think he would make a great Beat Em Up custom hero.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 27

Finally there is classic Dactylous, whom I don’t think I will get to finish in the challenge as I think he will need to many coats of yellow to get a good finish, but I will finish him soon thereafter.

Panic Stations! 3 days to go. On the up side though, I have cleared a little bit of space on the painting table! ?
Let’s start with my version of Beat Em Up’s Tokan – “Terry Silver” I finished the thug of by adding a little Green Stuff UV resin putty to his front to show where “Terry has kicked him and to the skeleton to make it look like the magic is flowing through him. I also used a little more of the resin to finish off “Terry’s magic flaming kick. The great thing about the UV putty is you can set it instantly and it is clear, so great for doing flames and magic effects! So that miniature is finished, mounted on it’s Cobra Kai stand.
I’ve added a couple of pictures of me using the UV resin.
I’ve also added a video that I have put on Youtube.
Next up, of course I need to progress the diorama. So I applied some homemade transfers to the 2 Destroyer light tanks and the Defiance, so that they were ready to be positioned. I’m not showing the diorama as it has scaffolding around it at the moment, well not quite, but there is a lot going on and some of it should be a surprise!
While doing that I also put some of my transfers onto the Mongoose. Now with ROTD vehicles I’m not sure if they are supposed to be mounted on bases. So I haven’t done one so far. The wrong answer is yes as that means I need to quickly do a base!? [EDIT: Can you guess what the answer was?]
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 26
Again Swordana got a little more paint on her and so did her effects.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 26

And because I’m a numpty, I decided to go for it and see if I can complete my 4th classic Beastlord by Thursday.

I keep thinking I’m not making much progress on the paint table, but then I remember that I’m spending a lot of time putting things together for the diorama. Today I started on a few more 10mm infantry, this time I did a little converting to create a Stringfellow Hawke, Then I did Sci-Fi laser trooper, next I haven’t started but he will be Stalker and the last one will be Roadblock.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 25 Part 2
Moving on, I have a lot of effects to work on so I set to work on the whirls and swooshes and lightning that I need. Swordana herself has only made a little progress, by adding in some blue.
My Tokan come “Terry is getting close, The thug has his blood splatter coming out of the back and the skeleton is now attached. “Terry Silver” himself is done, but I’m adding some purple mystical flame to his kick. And then I decided to do a Cobra Kai base for him to be set on. That is supposed to be a snake before anyone asks!?
Finally on the diorama I added in the Great White and the Barracudas are now flying round Leviathon like well… flies. The tentacles are in place and for those eagle eyed they might be able to pick out the tragic story associated with the tentacles. ?
Leviathon has his ancient Trident of the Oceans. Red is in place as are some 26 Democracy troops.

The weekend, when you think you’ll have time to buckle down and get some painting done… and then you realise you’ve got kids!
Anyway I managed to grab a bit of time before Football this morning and once the kids went to bed. But the danger of going down to the shed in the dark.. I lost one of my thugs but then luckily found him again after rantic searching with the torch. The neighbours will have been wondering what was going on.
First up, the 10mm heroes and troops are done, ready to add to the diorama.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 24
And you may notice Leviathon will be getting a big old trident. The whirlwind effect is being prepped for Swordana, but I’m going to have to break it to get her in, she must have put on weight! For Swordana, think She-ra transformation!

I mounted the hammerheads on perspex rods then stuck them into the diorama, under leviathon. Then what is this? Easter egg! There’s a wolf hiding in the diorama!

I got a little more paint onto “terry” as I am calling him and his thug and skeleton.

Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 24

I finally returned to my ninjas because I wanted to finish them off by giving them the green tentacle insignia on their back, so I made up some water transfers and printed them then finally tonight got them on. So we now have a full squad of 10 ninjas plus the ninja with sickle and The Green Ninja all finished.

It was a similar story for the thugs, to finish them I wanted to add COILS logos to their clothing so I did this and based two of them. The third who got lost in the garden is back safe and will get based tomorrow.

I think I am pretty much done with the 3 classic Beastlords. I went round them with black line as I wanted them to look cartoony. Do I push it and try to get a 4th one done? Well it is a challenge, so it’s not supposed to be easy… I’ll give it a go! The leader is also on the printer, fingers crossed I get a successful print. I’m going to base them up on my classic grid base like I did for classic Starfighter. Bases are being printed as we speak.
I added a little yellow edging to the renamed boss “Terry” as he is going to look Cobra Kai then I want some yellow on his suit, but since he’s only got trousers then I’ll put some on his belt as well. Also I started getting some colour on the victim Thug and his skeleton. I even painted in the gorey hole in his back which strangely made me feel a bit ill!?
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 23
The sharks undersides got done. I think I will keep them metallic as I hope it might make them look more waterlike.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 23
The 10mm heroes are almost done, my versionof Snakeyes, Lifeline and Breaker just need skin wash. Red is pretty much there too.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 23
I started de-whiting Swordana with a little colour.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 23
The tanks got another coat on their tiger stripes.
And last of all I printed a couple of ruins off that I’m going to use to make the diorama a little more interesting. I got them primed and then a base coat of grey, ready for some drybrush tomorrow.

A week to go. This is he time when you buckle down and complete the stuff that you’ve started… or you could start some more! I’ve had this idea that I’ve wanted to do for ages and I couldn’t hold off any more, so Tokan is getting painted up. I took one of the 3D printed thugs from the MyMinifactory tribes, the one sticking out the knife and went to town breaking his legs and digging a big hole out of his back. Then I got some plastic skeleton parts and tried to make a skeleton in the same pose. This will become Tokan kicking the skeleton out of one of his own thugs! Hopefully I pull it off. Tokan will become my Terry Silver… I’m still looking for my John Kreese!
Now let’s talk what I should be working on, the diorama. The smoke is in place on the crashed Buzzard and I’ve started to put the painted troops into place behind the wall. I’ve also started painting some sharks, they will feature in it.
The little heroes are progressing to, we have my custom Red, a medic, radio operator and ninja all getting there, along with some more troops.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 22
My 3 Beat Em Up thugs are pretty much done, I want to try and get a COILS logo on their backs, we’ll see how that goes and then they’ll go on bog standard street bases.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 22

Finally the classic Beastlords are still plodding. I added a little more dark red shading and I’ve started to add a little black edging.

More slow progress. Things are happening with the diarama, but I’ll detail that when I get a little more time, probably at the weekend.
The Mongoose got a little highlighting.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 21
Then I decided I would start painting Swordana Ascendant, I didn’t get very far she has a white coat which is covering all the putty I used when I repositioned the arms.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 21

The tentacles got a wash and a little drybrush.

Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 21
I took some more Democracy infantry and last night I clipped their guns off as I want them in a pose like they are holding ropes. You’ll see why later. I also converted a ‘Red’ figure by taking one of the 3D printed miniatures and cutting off the arms, then making arms holding a pistol, so the 10mm version looks a lot more like the 30mm version. I also gave her a flowing ponytail for more dramatic effect!
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 21
The tanks got some green tiger stripes, which need building up.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 21
And finally the classic Beastlords got some shading around various edges on their yellows and greys. I’ll do the reds tomorrow.
Nothing that exciting today I’m afraid. But who knows what tomorrow may bring… well I do! see you then

Things never go to plan. Work and an unexpected event has left me with only minimal time today to progress. But this is a challenge so we battle on.
The Beastlords are still plodding along like a Diplodocus. I gave them a little yellow wash on the yellow. I went over some of the grey again to get a more uniform finish, so hopefully tomorrow I can start a little shading. As I said before I want these to look very much like they are in the cartoon so most shading will be simple blocks, the way I like it!
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 20
Here’s a curve ball, I won’t get time to finish it in the challenge but just to show you that size does matter. The COILS ABT has been blown up 375% on the old FDM (plastic) printer. I primed it with grey at lunch.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 20

The Mongoose got another paint on the wheel arches and a little more detail added.

Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 20
Not very exciting but I’ve finished my smoke plume for the wrecked Buzzard on the Diarama, so that will get stuck on at some point tomorrow.
Then here’s something to get wrapped up in , a bunch of tentacles! They are actually off the classic Gorg model from the MyMinifactory Trides monthly subscription, but I’m going to use them as a creature from the deep in the diarama.
I started painting up some of the Classic Democracy Infantry that I had printed off. You probably can’t see but I put a first coat on what will represent my version of Snakeyes, Breaker and Lifeline. Again, the heroes are all coming to the diarama!
Lastly, the Light tanks and the Defiance got a little gun metal detailing and a little more shading on the windshield.

Ah! Monday… a frustrating day. After the weekend when you seem to make progress, Monday always feels to be a bit of a quagmire.
Anyway, lamentation over, time for the progress. Luckily spinning a lots of plates means that something usually clicks.
The Retro beastlords are one of the little progresses as I gave them another coat of yellow and added some slightly lighter red to certain parts and edges. To allow people a better look, I took individual pictures.
I attacked the crashed Buzzard with a hot tool, this was not done out of frustration, but to make some bullet holes and tears in parts of the aircraft. And I have to say it is quite satisfying doing so. I almost went full A-Team with the bullet holes, but stopped myself.?
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 19
The infantry got a little brown on the base, just so that I can start mounting them on the diarama.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 19
And speaking of the diarama, I moved the Buzzard and Leviathon  into place for a test shot. I think they will work roughly where they are placed.
I drybrushed the Defiance, light tanks and Mongoose again and also decided to do the Mongoose wings black now, more in line with the toy inspiration.

Finally a little highlighting managed to reach our 3 thugs.

Time is fleeting. Have I left myself enough time? Well of the miniatures I originally chose, only Swordana Ascendant sits untouched thus far, and a few extras have joined the journey, so I’m pretty happy with what I’ve done so far. But time for full disclosure. I decided somtime ago that this challenge for me wasn’t going to be about just painting miniatures. I wanted to try and create something bigger, unique and with a story. Over the past few days, you may have picked up on certain Easter Eggs that I have dropped into photos.
So really I always planned to create a diarama!? It’s part of the reason why certain miniatures haven’t had any focus on being based. I’m not going to give too much away today, but you’ll hopefully see parts coming together and I’ll explain the story behind it. Fingers crossed it works. But here is the base that I’ve been working on while painting all the miniatures. It’s big, around 30cm by 15cm. It’s a cliff with the castle walls that I occasionally showed the painting progress on.
Anyway back to the miniatures.
Leviathon I think is pretty much there now. I’ll give hime one last checkover.
The damaged Buzzard will be gaining its smoke plume soon.
The light tanks and Defiance are progressing slowly.
I based my last two ninjas so they are almost all complete, just want to add one more detail there.
The three Thugs are getting a little more detail and highlighting. Check out thos white and silver cowboy boots!
Again the Mongoose is getting a little more detailing. I’ll add a couple of muzzle flashes tomorrow I think.

The Retro Beastlords got some more colour on them and starting to look more cartoonish. And finally their friend who flies will be joining them soon as he has been printed and primed.

I have to start with my latest distraction. the 3 Retro BeastLords. I had to get a first coat on them. I want to do them as close to the original cartoon as possible so I want the colours to be fairly flat. They are great looking miniatures, before I even got paint on them.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 17
Next up, I think I finished my 2 Barracudas. Quate a simple paint scheme like a real Barracuda, and then some ocean blues and greens to enhance the look.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 17
Leviathon got some more colour and some more shading. I think I’m getting there with him, maybe another couple of days.
My 16 infantry got a face and hands colouring.
And finally I started on the smoke plume that will be part of my downed Buzzard.
I managed to finish the bases for another couple of ninjas.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 17
There were more coats on the windscreens of the Mongoose and Light Tanks, ready for my new favourite windscreen colour Frostheart Contrast. I also gave them all a light green drybrush.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 17

My 3 thugs from the MyMiniFactory Trides subscription got some more colour and a little highlighting and shading on the skin.

Not a bad day, lot’s going on, lots more to come.?

To everyone who has made it this far, be it as a painter or just following, I think we can all consider ourselves honourary Goonies. In my shed right in front of where I paint I have the Goonies plaque… not that I need reminding that Goonies Never Say DIe, because I grew up on that stuff! So well done to everyone for getting this far and if you don’t make it to the end for whatever reason, don’t worry, we won’t make you do the Truffle Shuffle. ?
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 16
Anyway, painting progress wasn’t as fast as I hoped, but I got another windscreen coat on the Mongoose and the light tanks.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 16
I got a bit more colour on my 3 thugs.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 16
I put some Contrast on my infantry and blacked there boots and guns, not that you can tell as they are so tiny.
Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 16
Next, I think I am pretty close to finishing my Barracuda.
The wrecked buzzard got some drybrushing and cockpit detail.

Leviathon got some greens added to certain parts of his limbs and a little mixed in with his ripple camo. The various pipes got a silver coat and you will have to take my work for it but the cockpit windscreen that is on his posterior got a coat of light blue.

I burnt a lot of time today faffing around with the printers again, but I got a few exciting results that have not so much changed… more added to my plans.
Leviathon got nothing more than a single pass with some colourshift paint to his ripples. It doesn’t really show on the camera, hopefully it will show better on video when I finish him.

Traders Galaxy Painting Challenge 2024 - Day 15

I continued with the 2 Barracuda , painting the cockpits and starting a blend from the dark almost metallic black to white silver.

I realised I missed a bit of priming on 2 of my Light Tanks so I corrected that today and then gave them a coat of Contrast to catch up with the other. I put a first coat on the windscreens of the Mongoose.
I drybrushed the crashed Buzzard.

Then I did some more priming, because I decided I needed a little more ROTD focus in my challenge as the ninjas could count as Beat Em Up or ROTD. So I picked Dr Mindtwist as I have an idea what I want to do with him and Blackwarp, I may do Redwarp too! Then hot off the printer came some of the Classic range BeastLords, namely one based on a Triceratops that had his name changed as it was deemed offensive ( I blame Viz!) and another based on a Brontosaurus. When I saw these on MyMinifactory they were a must and they look amazing in person. I got them primed straight away and I’m going to do them classic cartoon style.
Even hotter off the printer I have a full set of the exlusive Beat Em Up thugs from the MyMiniFactory Tribes. Also the perfectly timed release of the classic Overlord as he will be featuring in my Beat Em Up scenario with the Destructive Duo, in the future. And finally another Beastlord, this one based on the Stegasaurus. So I still have the best one to do yet which for me is the Pteradactyl… stay tuned. P.S. I doubt I will actually get chance to paint all these but you never know, we’ve made it this far!

Valentine’s Day, the day of romance, how better to celebrate than heading off to the shed to paint some more minis. ?
I started as always, rather than finishing the miniatures I’ve started, I thought I’d start some more. So I started another 21 new miniatures! Okay so 16 of them are 10mm Democracy infantry, they just got their first green coat. Then there was 5 bad guys from Beat Em Up because I always end up painting all the good guys and having no-one to fight. At least a couple off the thugs were the exclusive poses from the Traders Galaxy MyMiniFactory subscription… cool! I only managed to cover a bit of flesh and some clothing.
Then Leviathon got some Azure Magic (metallic turquiose paint) I really like the colour, although it was surprisingly close to the colour that Leviathon was alredy, so there was no real contrast just a little shinier. But that is fine as I intend to hit him with some of the shapeshifter colours in the future, to try and get an almost shimmering skin.

I started on a couple of Barracuda as I have loads of these both from Botwar and Broken Skies. I decided that I would paint them like their namesakes, so they will be silver, going from dark to light at the botton and then get the telltale stripes of these fast fish.

Finally I painted what will become my wrecked Buzzard, that A-10 grey and put some dark patches for battle damage and fires.

Unlucky for some, the number 13, but when everyday is rubbish you don’t notice! Until work is over and you can get painting again!? Despite the blistered fingers, the multicoloured painted nails and the odd superglued skin graft we soldier on.
Today was a drybrushing day. I managed to give the Mongoose and the two Democracy tanks a drybrush of pale green just to take away some of the darkness caused by Contrast paints.

My castle walls got a drybrush too.

Leviathon got yet another lighter mix of turquiose and white. Then I added some gold highlingting to him, a little silver to highlight his alloys and some red to bring the colour that had been drybrushed more blue than red. I also had a little experiment working on his refracting light camo pattern.

Finally I finished another couple of bases for the ninja, leaving only 3 to be based now.
