I’m going to have a Bar Room Brawl this Christmas!

About the Project
So, Mantic released an Advent Calendar, Bar Room Brawl, 6 minis, some Scatter Terrain, Board, Counters etc. for a game to play on Christmas day and I managed to pick up a copy for about £27 - not bad for the content (although that is still to be seen - I have resisted opening the windows.) So here is the challenge I have set myself - have this ready and fully painted for December 25th. Easy you say - read on.

December 18
If you want a drink then just help yourshelf. Another lovely little terrain piece from the terrain crates. I may be buying some of these sets in the future.
December 19
Well today I either got a cloak of invisibility or the box behind the window was empty. I assume that the contents have either slipped or been dropped behind the wrong window, just have to wait and see.
December 20
Just a few more tokens, 4 days left and still 2 figures left if my maths is correct. I would also like to say thanks to the Unofficial Hobby Hangout. The bad news is I’m not sure if I’ll have everything painted by Monday as I’ve been laid out with Gastroenteritis since Saturday but if I get the chance I’ll do as much as I can.
Oh and thanks to those who let me know what was missing Yesterday – it was the Player 1 counter I got earlier.
December 21
Another mini and it’s another Dwarf. Particularly like the tools mounted on the shoulder and the meat!
December 22
The final table and it’s good to see this isn’t just a duplicate of the others.
December 23
And the final bench.
This week has been a bit of a bust as far as painting but I’m pulling out of the illness so hopefully I will get chance for a final push (no pun intended) and get everything painted up by the 25th. See you tomorrow.
December 24 - Christmas Eve
So I finally made it to the end – apart from 3 figures and 4 pieces of scenery left to paint. And it’s a Goblin, tricky little devil that he is. My assumption was that the big guy was the bouncer but how wrong could I be, nope it’s the Gobbo (if the Dr Who specials taught us anything then it is not to make assumptions about anything, who would have thought that He/She/They would be your main adversary!)
So as I said yesterday, 1 final push to complete my challenge . The rules sound fun but I won’t be playing tomorrow as there will only be 2 of us although we could take 2 characters each but not sure that would be as fun.
Anyway my final update will be tomorrow and Merry Christmas to all who have been following.
December 25 - Merry Christmas Everyone
Managed to get it all done. Painted these up in a similar way to the previous minis, black prime, white zenithal followed by a lot of Xpress Color with a bit of the old Nocturne Fairy Flesh paint set, some Speedpaint 1.0 and Pro Acryl metallics. I didn’t varnish these yet as I may revisit them to add a bit more detail (probably not). In total it took around 3 hours to complete from washing to final gluing together.
I do like the Xpress Color range, limited as it is, as they are very vibrant colours and will be picking up more when they are released.
But now for a bit of context for the characters.
I previously thought this was the bouncer so I have had to come up with a backstory to fit the paint job.
Th’Odor Cri-lee, half Barbarian Warrior Cleric. He carries with him the Book of Names and the Chalice of Repentance. If you are unlucky enough to find your name in the book then you will be forced drink from the chalice, survive the torment and you are free to go – he may even give you a pressie, after all it is Christmas!
Nicevenn – Celtic Huntress and Elfin Queen, today she has tied up her steed in the stables to take a break from the Wild Hunt and feast in the company of mortals. Take care though, her beauty hides her fearsome nature, spill her drink at your peril!
He is known only as Da Boss, at least to his face – Goblin Doorman (or that Gobbo Thug) his eyes hidden behind his mirrored shades darting each way looking for a way to stop (or more likely start) trouble. Don’t turn your back on him and never let him hear you say he looks like a penguin in that suit.
Anton Le Booze and his trusty Dwarf sidekick Grog – Don’t be fooled the Mastiff is the master of this establishment. Cause any trouble and he will have his companion Grog chuck you out and you may not find it easy to get back in!
Alvina – Elven Forest Witch, she rode in on her Candy Cane, this slight, pretty spirit of the wilderness. But the wilderness can be a dangerous place with many hidden threats, be careful how you her approach her.
December 25 - Merry Christmas Everyone (cont.)
Cupric the Magnificent – Dwarven Copper Miner, small of stature and big of appetite, Cupric (he added the Magnificent himself) likes nothing better after a hard day in the mines than a tankard of ale a hearty meal and a good brawl.
And finally a look at the bar before the brawl.
Thank you to you all for following along, to Gerry and co. and to Ronnie and all at Mantic for making the calendar.
Hope you have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year and see all in Dungeonalia (now I’ve finished this).
