About the Project

After listening to the Weekender and watching a couple of videos on YouTube, I decided to pick up a copy of Black Site Studios Lunar. Not cheap, as I had to get it shipped over from the states, and postage made up an unhealthy percentage of the cost. However, I’m a fan of the TV series ‘For All Mankind’ and after watching some battle reports was keen to pick this up. I’m going to use this project blog for building painting and playing through a campaign. The game is low model count and only played on a 2x2 board so I looking forward to a project on a smaller scale than my others.

Assembly and clean up

So the models and assembled and as cleaned up as I’m going to do. The casts haven’t impressed me, but I don’t want to spend ages cleaning and gap filling. These are the starter set models so I just want to get the painted and assembled so I can play. The one gun was very fragile and broke during clean up, again, I’ve made the best of it but not going to worry too much. I hope the expansion models are of a better quality.

I used Mig Surface Putty to fill some gaps, unfortunately the mixer ball inside shattered the glass bottle!I used Mig Surface Putty to fill some gaps, unfortunately the mixer ball inside shattered the glass bottle!

So first out of the box (of what I ordered, which is more than just the starter set) some mining and suppply markers. Casts look ok, but there’s a fair amount of clean up to do on them. I picked up the game matt BSS have in store as well, which looks really good.

The starter set contents all looks good. The miniatures again look like good casts, but quite a bit of clean up will need to be done. Overall, I’m looking forward to getting stuck into this project.
