About the Project
Its, yet again, another journey around the world as I've gotten an idea in my head for an army build. This is a thought experiment, at best, and, at worst, a huge drain on my wallet in the making. Its not like I haven't been in this territory before, but I set out with intent to inspire as I limit myself to starting the engine with brakes fully locked in place instead of going full bore pedal to the metal like with other projects. I accept my weakness to going with a good idea before thinking about where it leads. Isn't that the best way to do things?

Prepare to swing, lead with the hips
I have a great notion of where to start from… with a leader. He who would be the image of strength to his fellows and must be the model minute military man. This also would be a great set piece to make my opponent think that there would be good reason to not immediately knock this guy out. Then again, I could be wrong.
All in all I like using native fauna as alternate for leader on beast. Honestly, the lion idea just seemed dodgy as Cape Buffalo and rhinos seemed frightening enough.
Mandatory musical accompaniment
Gerry, you lazy so and so
So I got a recent update in my email to a sale that featured plastic Zulus thay would make up an entire army of spearmen. I could field 3 points of unammried Zulu for rank and file levy with four leftover figures for use here and there (maybe on a monster?). If I wanted to go regular troops, using married Zulu, there are enough for 5 points total in the box. I think a certain Rourke’s drift project may have more life to give as far as playing is concerned.
Not at all like Snoreway
A horse of a different color
Zebra
Okapi
Changing up centaurs for a different continent I found artwork that would be great to have for cavalry units. Regular or Hearthguard soldiers would be good as the painting would be a pain enough from all the stripes.
Onward Mighty Tantor!!!
Thank you Myminifactory.com for not leaving me in the lurch for having to search for long. I knew there was a model like an oliphant that would be useful here and I think it would be great as an addition of being a monster.

Beasts of War pt. 1
Great beasts of conflict to carry the leader if this force have been located. I think that there is quite a bit of potential in hobby creation and digital kitbashing after having dug around the fecund muck on the Interwebs (quite different from the nice filth one can readily find).
First up we have rhinoceroses (rhi-nohs-Kerr-usis … really, trust me its all scientifically accurate) out there able to give their enemies the biggest horn over and over again if the first time wasn’t enough.
Scan the World – Rhinoceros at the Museum d’Orsay, Paris
Beasts of War pt. 2
Cape Buffalo are worthy of the spot to act as capable mount with their unassuming demeanor. On the other side of things violent hippos come to the fore as there’s more than just savannah available with which to play. Waterways in the wilderness do exist and the “water horses” are easily able to take on those who would test their tempers.
No fanservice for furries here
Time to add some more fantasy to the fantastic with goblin riders. Between hyenas and warthogs you can’t go wrong with some greenskins. On the subject of hyenas there are plenty of gnolls out in the mini world to choose from.
Magic stuff for flavor
Magic for an Age of Magic seems appropriate. I’ll also add some ancestor figures to the mix.
Heroes&Beasts – Swapmini 11 – Oshkuaho
Reaper mini – Jigeke the Exile
Reaper mini – Malapango Warriors
Scan the World – Ti’i ancestor figures
Hut hut, hike
Now for the terrain I’ll put a few bits for reference visuals and blog entries that give good input for those who would terrain build

The end of Africa? No Toto, it can't be
Ok, my thought has run its course and I think that I don’t need to keep playing with it anymore. I hope to have inspired some people for an African motif army of their own with resources provided. Now think, you got all this and no opening theme music for The Lion King. Aren’t you all just so lucky?
