This Project is On Hold
Project On Hold.
I have been struggling with massive disabilities causing me to not be able to paint or build miniatures. The major disabilities limiting my hobby are tremors in my right hand making it very unstable and lots of pain in my left which I was learning to paint with. I am getting physiotherapy to try and help me cope with the disabilities, but I am not sure it is going to solve anything. I do not know if I will be able to return to miniature painting and such and for now I am starting a new project involving LEGO, something I can do with my disabilities.
Stegadon Assembly.
I got another one of the larger models for the Wrath of Metztli together, the crew and bolt thrower is still loose as I will paint those separately. But this will be my Stegadon for OnePageRules’ Age of Fantasy and SAGA: Age of Magic.

These are my Chameleon Skinks for the Wrath of Metztli, my lizardmen army for SAGA: Age of Magic and OnePageRules’ Age of Fantasy. In SAGA 4 of them will be counted as hearthguard with bows.
The Plan 2.0
This is my new plan to move forward with the Wrath of Metztli. My motivation to work on it has slightly dropped through the floor, ended up in hell and went through the floor there as well…..
As may not come as a surprise to anyone, SAGA and its ages is one of my favourite game system. Age of Magic is thus going to be the first focus for this project from now on. However I am currently limited to the models that I have printed since my printer is broken again. So phase 1 will be a fun Lords of the Wild list (8 points for Age of Magic) for SAGA: Age of Magic, but if I have models to work on in that list I will start working on phase 2 or 3 as well, but my priority will be with phase 1 first. Phase 2 to 4 will be for OnePageRules’ Age of Fantasy, however some will also be valid for SAGA: Age of Magic. I will use old Warhammer fantasy names for most of my units, but will also explain what they are used as in both SAGA and Age of Fantasy.

What is going to change?
In short, there will not be much changes to this project. As far as I know I can use most of the armylist with OnePageRules’ Age of Fantasy game system and I will convert it to that. So in the near future there will be a list of changes to the phases that I was planning on doing and some other minor changes to the army, but I will still be working on it and there will still be a horde of lizards on the table at the end of it.
The lore that I wrote however will change. I will most likely change this to fit in the old Warhammer Fantasy universe as the lore for that is 10 times better than Age of Sigmars anyway. But that is something that will come once I find the inspiration to do so.
Here is my GW rant for today:..... (Pretty pissed off at them again.)
I looked at the changes coming to the Seraphon in the new Battletome as some people already have their hands on it. And in short, I am wanting to blow up GW again…..
Anyway, some models were removed making some units invalid, other rules were changed that I don’t particularly like for my army either. And with better games available like OPR Age of Fantasy or SAGA Age of Magic which is created by people who actually want to make good games rather than just make money, my choice will be easily made and I am not playing Age of Sigmar anymore. I will rebuild my plans for the Wrath of Metztli to fit those rule systems and those rule systems.
Also, for my Warhammer 40k projects, I am not getting into 10th edition anymore since GW can only mess up rules anyway, and that has been proven to me again…. The 10th edition rules reveals over the last weeks makes that obvious as well as I was never happy with the changes when 8th edition came out and 10th is not looking any better. For those who want to play 40k with me OPR Grimdark Future will be the only option. And for my Dark Angels project, I just don’t know yet. I still really like the 40k universe, I just loathe GW.
Citlalli (Skink Oracle on Troglodon)
This is Citlalli, the Skink Oracle on Troglodon for the Wrath of Metztli, my lizardmen army.
Saurus Guard
Here is my unit of 5 Saurus Guard for the Wrath of Metztli, my lizardmen army. This unit will be expanded to a total of 10 models in the future.
Salamander Hunting Pack
And finally, this is my salamander hunting pack for the Wrath of Metztli, my lizardmen army.
Fri'qandel (Skink Starpriest)
Next up is Fri’qandel, my Skink Starpriest for the Wrath of Metztli, my lizardmen army.
Saurus Old Blood
This is my Saurus Old Blood for the Wrath of Metztli, my lizardmen army. This character doesn’t have a name yet, something that I will come up with later.
There is going to be more pictures of the stuff that I did while I wasn’t home to come over the next few days, so keep a lookout for that.
Renovation Painting. (Paint Scheme: Troglodon/Chameleon Skinks)
Since they are renovating my apartment and the entire apartment building I put most of my hobby stuff in storage, but I am just keeping enough out to just paint some more lizards. Now I do need to know what paints I am going to need, so here is a couple of paint schemes for models that I currently have primed and ready to paint over the coming weeks or month or so.
Troglodon
The paint scheme for the Troglodon I am basing on the Common Basilisk, which is not a snake. I am basing the paint scheme of the larger lizardmen creatures on lizards and not on dinosaurs for multiple reasons. For one dinosaurs were most likely warm blooded and GW lore says that all lizardmen creatures are cold blooded. And second, it is very hard to find colour photographs of the actual dinosaurs the models are based on. I am starting with a base of Vallejo Model Color German Cam. Med. Brown (70.826) on the top and blend that down to Vallejo Model Color Golden Olive (70.857) at the belly and blend that to a Vallejo Model Color Dark Yellow (70.978) at the smooth part of the tail. I will add a stripe of Vallejo Model Color Dark Yellow (70.978) going from the eye over the side of the torso and another stripe from the mouth to the front arms. I will then add a blotchy stripe pattern of Scale 75 Scalecolor Petroleum Grey (SC-57) vertically on the model. I will add bands of Scale 75 Scalecolor Petroleum Grey (SC-57) over the tail and the arms and legs. I will then use a wash of Citadel Shade Agrax Earthshade (99189953018) over the whole body.
The eyes will be done with Vallejo Game Color Charred Brown (72.045) and receive a dot of Tamiya Color Acrylic Paint Clear Yellow (X-24) after all the varnishes are done.
Chameleon Skinks
The paint scheme for the Chameleon Skinks I am basing on the Veiled Chameleon’s colours when it is hunting and excited. Regardless to popular beliefs, chameleons don’t actually “chameleon” and actually change their colour based on their mood not to fit in with their surrounding. And with these models I think their hunting mood, which is also their excited mood kind of fits the best. It also happens to work the best for camouflage. For the base of the skin I will start with a base coat of Vallejo Model Color Golden Olive (70.857) I will then put a coat of Vallejo Model Air White Grey (71.119) around the mouth and a broken up stripe along the side. For the stripe on the back I am going to roll a D6 on the following table:
- Vallejo Model Color Deep Green (70.970)
- Scale 75 Scalecolor Petroleum Grey (SC-57)
- Vallejo Model Color Beige (70.917)
Those markings will have dots of Vallejo Model Color Golden Olive (70.857) throughout and the pattern go all the way through their arms, legs and tail. Around the crests on the head I will add a bit of Vallejo Game Color Scarlet Red (72.012) and the wash for the skin will be Citadel Shade Athonian Camoshade (99189953024). The inside of the eyes will be done with Vallejo Game Color Charred Brown (72.045) and receive a dot of gloss varnish after all the varnishes are done.
The insides of the mouth and tongue will get a basecoat of Vallejo Model Color Light Flesh (70.928) and a wash of Citadel Shade Carroburg Crimson (99189953016).
Feldherr Foam!
My storage and carrying solution from Feldherr for the Wrath of Metztli is finally here, it took a bit due to some supply issues. These will all fit neatly into the carrying bags that I already have from Feldherr. This isn’t everything from my lizardmen army though, due to renovations in my apartment happening next month anything that wasn’t fully assembled is in a storage box already.
Kroxigors
This is my finished unit of 6 Kroxigors for the Wrath of Metztli.
And there is the introduction of my first character, Trapt-Op-Staart. I seriously came across this name when recruiting a Kroxigor Ancient in Total War: Warhammer and I couldn’t stop laughing. It literally means Steps-On-Tail in Dutch. But since Age of Sigmar doesn’t allow me to have Kroxigor Ancient as either a hero or a leader of a Kroxigor unit, they will just be a unique looking model in my Kroxigor unit, but they will be a character in my lore for my army. Although I haven’t written anything for them yet….
Paint Scheme: Salamanders
Salamanders
The salamanders I am going to base off of the fire salamander, since this salamander spits fire in the game, I thought it was only fitting. The real fire salamander doesn’t spit fire though. I am going to start by painting the model Vallejo Model Air Medium Yellow (71.002) most likely with my airbrush as it is a pain in the arse to paint the yellow over the black. I will then paint the skin with Vallejo Model Color Black Grey (70.862) leaving dots and stuff behind like in the pictures. The model has like vanes on the back of its head and on its back that the fire salamander doesn’t have. The ridges of these will be Vallejo Model Color Black Grey (70.862) and I will blend that to Vallejo Model Color Amaranth Red (70.829). I will use Citadel Shade Nuln Oil (99189953017) as the wash for the skin and wiping excess away on the brighter areas as to keep them nice and bright.
The eyes will be done with Vallejo Game Color Charred Brown (72.045) and receive a dot of gloss varnish after all the varnishes are done.
The insides of the mouth and tongue will get a basecoat of Vallejo Model Color Old Rose (70.944) and a wash of Citadel Shade Carroburg Crimson (99189953016).
Lore
I have written a bit of lore for the Wrath of Metztli. It is based on existing lore for the Seraphon in Age of Sigmar as to make it fit in well.
In the early Age of Chaos when Clans Pestilens manifested a gnawhole on the hull of the Koatl’s Claw primary temple-ship, the temple-ship of Lord Metztli (Slann Starmaster) was not left unscathed. Another gnawhole opened in their temple-ship and the Skaven coming forth caused a lot of damage. Lord Metztli’s temple-ship went down in the realm of Ghur, but they landed far from the primary temple-ship of Lord Quex of the Koatl’s Claw. The Saurus that were spawned after the crash possessed the same savagery as the ones in the jungles of Mekitopsar. Lord Metztli however did not suffer the same fate and survived the crash pretty much unscathed, but due to the savagery the saurus now possessed, Lord Metztli understood that they could no longer control them. And so they named Itzcoatl (Saurus Oldblood) as the general for military matters. Itzcoatl was still able to control their savage impulses enough. Lord Metztli is directing Itzcoatl to manoeuvre against Clans Pestilens for revenge for what was done while contemplating what the great plan was and how they can still continue the work of the Old Ones. However, finding the Skaven isn’t easy and anyone that gets in their way and is in some way believed to be aiding the Skaven must also be destroyed.
Update
I have updated various paint schemes across the project and added a couple that I forgot.
Big Lizard Assemblies...
I am still not a fan of assembling 3D printed models due to shrinkage and expansion of the resin on different parts of the models. But I think the result is worth it.
???
I put a couple of my lizards on their bases and can’t wait to paint them. I first have to get a couple of other things finished that are on my paint table and then it is the turn of the lizards. If I can paint regularly again than I expect to have a 1000 points on the table by the end of the year.
