The whole Army.

I put them all on the table before a battle with my brother Ugleb. Here is my complete Ratkin Horde.

Look at their ratty goodness.

Here you can see the support - Clawshots, Night Terror, Custom weapon team at the bottom, my naked mole rat deathrattler (the body is Merice Minitures, the legs, head and tail are moddled and FDM printed by me.) You can also see my custom tangle on the road.

Here is my infantry, Shock troops at the back, normal at the front with a couple of vermintide units I made. (note to self, make a legion base of these guys.)

Here they are ranked up to battle.

Here they are taking on my Goblin army that I loaned out for a battle.

So, Apparently I'm a B*stard.

I “finished” this army a good while ago – as far as an army is every finished, but never posted any more pictures. I’ve added in a good number of units now, and my brother is completing his army.

He got mentioned on the unoffical hobby hangout, and apparently I’m of quesitonable liniage due to not sharing pictures – so here are some images!

All the bases as well as several units are custom modelled and 3D printed.

first up, we get the Mutant Rat field and clawshots - I moddelled a few extra guns to push my pack to two units instead of one.

Next up, two custom shredders, using a large number of spare goblin and ratkin spears - I have a huge box of old sprues for this kind of thing, and I like using them to take away from the cruder FDM prints.

Nightmares and a Storm Caller, two hordes of Elite, Vicious heavy infantry to mess up my many enemies.

I don't have a single painted image, but I kitbashed a Brood Mother from some miscasts from I got from Meirce minitures.

Next up are the Shock troops - or stormdrain vermin as I call them. These guys are the armies crowning glory.

As you can see, I went to town a bit here – there are only about 13 minis a base, but due to the large terrain, they look nice and dense. I even moddeled an undersewer for me to look at why my rats run down their enemies.

The First units

So this will be my second Kings of War army – the other half of the war in the holds box set, the Ratkin.

For this, I decided I want to push my 3D modelling skills a bit and do custom bases for each unit.

I’m using the free 3D modelling program Blender for all of this.

First up are my Shock troops (with spears) and slaves/warriors. These had fairly sedate bases as I needed to fit a good number of troops on.

Not that I wasn't able to set the tone.

Next I added Skuz. Skuz has a massive rock under his foot that I needed to model around. This meant some careful measuring and use of blanks to make everything fit - then some added sand/cork rubble to mask the join.

Vermintide are also a useful unit to have, but there is no model that exists that really does justice to a horde of rats coming for you - so I made one!

For my tunnel runners I had an idea I wanted to exacute, but with the size of the models I had to make a scaled mock up to pull this off. I also did a sewer cover surfing base for my Warlock and a basic one for the Night Terror.

This is one of those models that's really hard to get a good photo of, as it's a great affect, but needs to be seen from multiple angles - this came out pretty much as I saw it in my head and I'm well chuffed with the result!
