Freaky Frostgrave

About the Project
Frostgrave is a figure agnostic game, which is great for me as it lets me loose with all the daft little warband ideas I have. I do take my gaming seriously most of the time, but I also enjoy letting my imagination run a bit wild sometimes, too. After all, it is a game, and it should be fun. And a few aggressive gingerbread men never hurt anybody (apart from the opponents wizard).

Something silly
Frostgrave is snowy. Christmas is also snowy. You eat gingerbreaad men at Christmas. Therefore, gingerbread men should be in Frostgrave. Logical, right?
The first warband.
After reading the book, I knew I wanted necromancers for my first warband. I had a look round the shop for some suitable models, and even dug through my Pile Of Shame, but nothing was catching my imagination. I wanted something different. In the end, I found myself on Heroforge designing my own band of Egyptian Mummies. A few, tense, hours later, and they were printed and ready for painting.
Making a base
I really like how you can pick a base for your intrepid wizard after playing your first game with him, and I decided I wanted to represent that with a physical model. Before I’d even started on a warband, I began building a library. I used one of the Dungeons and Lasers room kits, plus a load of scatter from various Terrain Crates and the like. This is progress so far.
Getting started
The first thing I wanted to do was create some fun, wintery scenery for the game board. And a board, too. That part was easy enough. Cue some Reaper Bones graveyard pieces, and an old GW scenery board, and a sh*t load of snow flock and pva glue. A couple of hours later, I had a workable set of scenery. And I even found an old Stormcast who made a pretty cool statue, too.
