Over the past year I’ve got myself into a bit of a tizzy with this project. So the next couple of posts will bring everything up to date. Over what has happened and went wrong with this project and what I’ve been doing with 40k

On Friday night I went to my parents and dug out my old 40k models. I discovered what I thought I had, I didn’t, but I had stuff I forgotten about. The problem is that it’s Blood Angels. I had a librarian dreadnought, and a couple of furoso dreadnoughts, along with a load of death company still on the sprue.

I didn’t want to give up on the idea of Ultramarines, but all this Blood Angels and my love of the aesthetic….. So after a bit of soul searching, and talking to friends and the unwife, I will be returning to Baal.

This feels a bit superfluous, but I have built the marines. They are snap fit so not a issue for someone for 30 years experience. But I will say that they are brilliant for new players. Teenage me would have loved these.

So, against all reasoning I have decided to start a new Warhammer 40k army. A patrol force, to start with but I’ll see where it goes.

I have a load of sprues kicking around so Space Marines it is… What kind of space marine though. I previously collected Blood Angels, so I want to avoid them, and do something completely new.

In the end I settled on the a chapter I’ve never thought of doing, Ultramarines.

I haven’t played 40k in probability a decade. Its not that I had anything against it.. It just hasn’t inspired me.

This was all going to change. Working with some 40k players and a chance game changed all that.
