About the Project

Having seen JOhns great work on here I found out the FactoruM are running an event in a week and decided to give it a go. So now I need to panic assemble and paint 8 mechs for the event......and learn the rules.

Lovely sculpts from Polygon Master Works means these took contrast paints like a champ and were an absolute pleasure to paint.

I can’t wait to head to the FactoruM event this weekend and play some games.

Happy hobbying everyone!

Got the second of the twins done, both of which serve in the same lance in their Hunchback variants.

Another one added to the force for the weekend, I am feeling the pressure of trying to get them all finished now as I travel Friday evening so I may be doing the usual last-minute painting into the night or even the morning of the day.

Managed to get this one done late last night. Tonight I am going to try to double up and get two of the smaller ones done to stay on track.

Well, I wanted to do one more but have run out of time for tonight. I love the sculpt of this one by Polygon Master Works and can see myself coming back to print and paint these again when I have more time to do them justice but for now, my focus will be on tomorrow and getting at least another one finished.

This one is the same recipe of colours as the first. The larger flat-panel areas on this one show how detailed the first mech is in comparison and how much better the contrast colours have sat with higher concentrations of detail. That being said for the time put in and the timeline I need to keep to I am happy with the result.

So I have to keep in mind I have 8 mechs to paint and I drive to the event on Thursday, add in work and a couple of nights I can’t paint this week and I am panic speed painting and keeping it simple stupid as I tend to do too much and lose time foolishly.

So with that in mind, my colour scheme is pretty much two colours with weapons picked out with the right colours.

I have used Akhelian Green on what I like to call the chassis, I wanted to reverse my colours having the plainer colour on the upper structure and the brighter colour on the sub assy. I am pleased with how it has turned out.

I used Basilicanum Grey thinned a little with some medium on the rest of the mech.

On the left arms laser, I used a little Moot Green (not in the shot).

Finally, I picked out the eye with a mix of Baharroth Blue and GSW Fluro Blue.

Abaddon Black for the rim of the base and brush coat of Vallejo Mecha Matt Varnish to finish.

Some lunch and then onto mech number 2, hoping to get 4 done today!

Well this is a one week project, I best get started.

Okay so first of all this is Johns’s fault and Cad from 4Ground/FactoruM. I have had a soft spot for Battletech since I was a teen and that was at least a couple of decades ago. John reminded me of how cool the mechs were with his lovely work recently on OTT and then he pointed out that there are Patreons for 3D printing files. I signed up for one (Polygon Master Works) and started to look into printing them out,

Then Cad and the guys at FactoruM decided to post up an event to play which would be pitched at a just starting level, perfect as I don’t know how to play and will be playing for the first time at the event.

That event is only a week away and I need to get 8 mechs built for my two lances by then, sooooo I started printing yesterday and got the bases printed and filler done as well as the first four mechs printed and primed ready for paint.

This morning I woke up early for no particular reason and so cracked on with the bases getting them done in around 2-3 hours. Next, I need to start on the mechs that are ready.

I imagine contrast paints will be my friend to give me the chance of completing everything by Thursday evening so I can head down Friday with the miniatures complete.
