About the Project

Inspired by the impending return of Firefight, a desire to get back into Deadzone and a certain Stargrave book arriving ive dug out my beloved Forgefathers from their hibernation. Time to get them table ready!

Time to get the Iron Ancestor ready. He’s been sitting around gathering dust for years. Feels good to finally get him done!Time to get the Iron Ancestor ready. He’s been sitting around gathering dust for years. Feels good to finally get him done!

With the base colours on I realised the blue wasn’t dark enough to make the earlier paint jobs. Prettt sure these were painted with Kantor blue (GW) back in the day. I looked up and equivalent chart and luckily I had a match with a Vallejo Dark Prussian blue so I went over the blue again to tone him down

After a standard beige drybrush, some washes and some pigment powder for scorch marks it’s a quick Matt coat and done!

So after some rumaging around carry cases and draws i think ive found most of what i have. All the painted stuff is in good nick, weirdlly this was painted in the days before Brainmatter beige, theres even edge highlighting! Might take me a moment to work out what colours i used to match up the new stuff...So after some rumaging around carry cases and draws i think ive found most of what i have. Bizarrely i was mostly excited to find these two. Every year at Salute (pre event) i'd always pick up a few random bits from Hasslefree and one year i got these guys to stand in as militia.Bizarrely i was mostly excited to find these two. First up was a small epair thats been bugging me for a looooong time. The claws of the Iron Ancestor went missing a long time ago so i decided it was time to get it sorted. After rummaging around and finding nothing obvious that would fix it i spied a plastic top from a spray can and a pair of clippers. Neccesity being the mother of invention and all that i got to snipping and glueing. End result isnt perfect but with a bit of paint it should be passable!

First up im going to get to work on the two makeshift militia. Im also eyeing these up for use in Stargrave so keen to get them done!First up im going to get to work on the two makeshift militia. Im also eyeing these up for use in Stargrave so keen to get them done!

And they’re done, short and sweet (excuse the pun) Really enjoyed painting them, in fact I may have just visited the website and ordered some more....And they’re done, short and sweet (excuse the pun) Really enjoyed painting them, in fact I may have just visited the website and ordered some more....
