About the Project

I bought the Knight models Harrys Potter game a while back now and to be honest didn't like it much. That being said I did however like the sculpts of the minis very much. This game therefore sat on a shelf gathering dust until now...

The last of the good guys I had to paint was Hermione.

I think pretty much the nicest mini in the starter set.

The scarf was the stand out feature of this model and also the most difficult to paint.

I initially applied the yellow strips quite thickly and unevenly and used the red paint of the scarf to neaten them up and bring them in a bit.

This was simply because red, imo is an easier colour to work with.

Today I painted Ron. I found him a lot easier than Harry for some reason, I suppose practice makes perfect or something like that.

The hair was Beastigor flesh followed by a dry brush of bone white and finished with some Fuagen Orange shade.

The skin, I gradually built up from Bugmans glow to Candian fleshtone to Vallejo pale flesh.

Not to forget a Lloyd shot this time.

So, the first model is completed and it’s none other than Harry Potter!

The face caused me a lot of problems especially painting the glasses.

Below is my first attempt where I painted the skin too dark and too be honest didn’t pick out any of the features.

Harry Potter

I didn’t think he looked quite right and this was confirmed by some fantastic constructive criticism from the community.

Below is Harry mk2 now with improved face!

Harry Potter

Done in time for my Mums birthday and I have sent he a pic to prove its finished.

On to Ron next I think.

Its my Mum’s birthday tomorrow and I’ve not got her anything!

Now I’m not, as you may be thinking a terrible son. I was under strick instructions not to go out and buy anything. My mum is a bit of a worrier and didn’t want me going out and getting anything on her account.

So I had an idea…

My mother is a massive Harry Potter fan and I have these nice HP models lying around. You see where I’m going with this?

Why I'm doing this

I decided to paint Harry, Ron and Hermionie up as pictured above.

I started of by priming grey with a light dusting of white.

All of the cloaks were then given 2 coats of scale 75 Shadow black

The trousers, skirts and jumpers were then base coated in various shades of grey mixed up on a wet pallet.

The insides of the cloaks were painted in a scarlet red.
