The Thing Finished
Hi everyone,
I have finished the Thing, and I am quite happy how it turned out all considering. I have posted a picture of the original model and how it ended up. There is also a group photo with the other figure in the series.
This project has five miniatures in its itinerary. So, two down and three to go. The next endeavor is the X-Man Dr Hank McCoy a.k.a. the Beast.
Until then, beast regards,

Halfway There
Hi,
As the title says, I have finished up half the model. I wanted to leave the bottom half unpainted to illustrate how the process begins and how it ends.
Also, I was taught that the eyes are the focus of the face, and the face is the focus of the model. Therefore, if I don’t get the eyes right, the face is not right and if the face is not right, then there is no point in continuing painting the model.
That is way when I paint display models I always begin with the eyes first and then the face. If I am satisfied with it, then and only then do I continue.
Hopefully, the model will be ready and mounted on its base next week.
Until then, my best regards,
NR
The Backdrop
Hi everyone,
I am currently painting Ben Grimm and working on another Star Wars diorama, but before I started on these I managed to finish the base and backdrop for this model.
This is part of the makeover I have planned for these figures. For Ben Grimm I wanted to show off his strength, so I built a section of a castle wall that he has just smashed through. The castle belongs to Dr. Doom as clearly demonstrated by his dislodged portrait.
Next week I will show the painting progress of the Thing.

Starting with Ben Grimm - The Thing
Hi everyone,
I used to collect the Eaglemoss Marvel figurines many years ago, but I stopped as I saw that the quality of the production was getting worse over time.
I have decided to embark on a project where I choose several of the better sculpted figures and try to improve them for single model showcase pieces.
I started with Wolverine and I was so please with the result that I decided to chronicle the rest of the work here.
My next model is Ben Grim, aka The Thing from the Fantastic Four. One of the best in the Eaglemoss Classic Collection.
I begin the process with stripping the model bare and fixing the cast. This consists of filling holes and sanding.
I then give the model a coat of Tamiya Surface Primer in order to detect any other defects. If I do, I re-sand and fix what I can and then re-prime.
The model is now ready to paint. I have fixed as much as I could or wanted to, now I will start to work on the base.
I will post that next week.
Regards,
NR
