About the Project

For the longest time, all I've wanted to do is create a game, with the growing interest in the board and tabletop games I figured this would be a good time to finally start getting ideas together and put together something. Problem is, I have no idea how to go about it! I'm lacking direction, and it occurred to me that there must be a lot of people out there that suffer from the same problem and it might be a good exercise to do a community developed game, something that takes the ideas and feedback of all you experienced gamers, modellers and tabletop warlords and put it together into something that's unique and maybe along the way help out others who have similar problems/questions about developing a game.

Busting makes me feel...?

Moving on from the last entry, the current number of votes seems to be pretty even with the deciding vote leaning more towards an alternative history style setting but the question now, what setting?

One comment from Avernos did raise the idea of a possible 1980’s era Ghostbusters style game which certainly has an appeal to me but with the votes also leaning towards future sci fi maybe this could be ghost busting in a cyberpunk setting?

With that in mind:

Vote (Skill) if you would like to go down the path of a 1980’s style Ghostbuster’s.

Vote (Idea) if you like the idea of  Ghostbusting in a more modern/cyberpunk setting.

Vote (Tutoring) if you’ve got something else in mind, leave a comment and let me know your thoughts.

When starting a game, I always think the best place to start is the setting and general feel for the game.

I have a love for both Fantasy and Sci-Fi settings but to be honest if I had to choose I would lean more towards a science fiction setting but with that in mind, the first question would be, what kind of Sci-Fi setting.

Science Fiction is a varied subject with lots of scope for different settings, but since these posts have a voting system with three options I figured it would be best to limit the choices to three and use the recommendations to vote and decide where to go next, so out of the following which would you choose?

Hard Sci-Fi – Science fiction based on hard science and reality, examples of this kind of setting would be things like The Expanse, Gundam or other mech suit based ideas, Blade Runner, Cyberpunk, Dieselpunk etc… (vote Tutoring)

Sci-Fi Fantasy – Science fiction with elements of the fantastical or mystical mixed in, this could be things like Warhammer 40k, Star Wars, Doom, Steampunk, Dune, Marvel etc… (vote Skill)

Alternative Reality/History – A modern/current setting or an event in the past where events have happened differently, examples of this could be things like Dust 1947, Wolfenstein, Scythe etc… (Vote Idea and please leave a comment as to explain what kind of event/history etc…)
