About the Project

I have been admiring Mythos since first released by Paranoid Miniatures. When redone by Warcradle Studios decided I had to dive in. I have done a bit before starting this project as I wanted to ensure I was well under way, as I have a tendency to hit blocks and projects fizzle out but here I have an almost completely painted starter set inc scenery. So this focus can focus on the experience of playing games and expanding my options.

Since painting the crab I have been doing a bit of work on my Spring clean Cyberpunk project.

I will be returning with the remainder of the Hidden Ones next weekend.

I just wanted to post here to thank #averno for the Golden Button this weekend.

In the peice on Beast of war Gerry referred to the crab and cat so I thought I would post the reference pictures for your delectation.

Another picture, as you can see there is a fair bit of variation in colouring (some have blue claws as well) do it allowed me to use a bit of artistic license.Another picture, as you can see there is a fair bit of variation in colouring (some have blue claws as well) do it allowed me to use a bit of artistic license.
Zeus the cat, again I used a bit of artistic license here as there was no way I was going to be able to fit in that many rows of tunes.Zeus the cat, again I used a bit of artistic license here as there was no way I was going to be able to fit in that many rows of tunes.

With the Priory finished I can now move onto one of my favourite factions (along with the Wyldborne) the Hidden Ones, and the figure I was most looking forward to was Click Clack the giant crab.

I googled crab pictures and found a breed native to New England seemed appropriate, plus I liked the colour combination.I googled crab pictures and found a breed native to New England seemed appropriate, plus I liked the colour combination.

A lot of the paint effects on the crab shell turned out by happy accident.

I undercoated the model in army painter desert yellow, followed by an overall coat army painter scaly hide. This was then given a soft tone wash and dry brushed up in scaly hide with progressively more army painter light flesh, with a final dry brush of pure light flesh.

I then started adding washes of the colours I wanted the final shell to be and because I wanted to paint the underside of the model I had no base or painting handle so I was handling the model directly and it was this process that rubbed of some of the colour back down to the sand undercoat giving the really nice shell effect.

I then temporarily based the model to paint in the details like the mouth eyes red claws, purple urchins and the barnacles.

Extremely happy with how he came out.

Next to paint is the remainder of the Hidden faction. I also have some of the Green Stuff World cursed books ( my first order from OTT) to paint as objective markers for one of the scenarios along with some more scenery.

I started with this faction as I really wanted to paint the Hidden Ones, but I thought that getting this one painted first would help me complete at least two starter factions.

The complete faction, as with most of my skirmish miniatures I have used clear bases as this allows my models to work with any gaming mat or peice of scenery, plus I was not overly keen on the lipped warcradle bases. The complete faction, as with most of my skirmish miniatures I have used clear bases as this allows my models to work with any gaming mat or peice of scenery, plus I was not overly keen on the lipped warcradle bases.
The miniatures displayed with some of the scenery I painted whilst waiting for my first order of Mythos models to arrive. The buildings are the Warlord plastic hamlet models and the van is a Lledo Walkers crisps promo model repainted.
